Childhood

Cherimoya wanted for nothing, except for a sense of purpose. She spent many a sunny morning tailing after her father on his gardening routines and always found every excuse to climb all over her visiting extended family every chance she got. It was a paradise! But as she grew, she found she struggled. As much as she enjoyed her father’s garden, she was not blessed with his skill. At least she made for a good second pair of claws helping her mother with the fruit trees, but she longed for something more.

With her siblings, she often tried to parrot their mother. She may have been the smallest of her nest, but that didn’t stop her. Possibly to the point of annoyance she was asking where everyone was going, making sure they were okay, trying to be the smile when folk felt down, and of course reminding her siblings of any rules they might be about to break.

Once she aged into adulthood, however, she wasn’t keen to leave the clan at first. What if they needed her help with something? She found enjoyment in acting as nanny-for-the-day to give parents some reprieve in the clan. But after a bit of time, and careful nudging of her father, she agreed to spend a bit of time traveling to experience the world. With well wishes, and assurances from her family that she always had a home here, she was off.

Arriving at Idyll

Her goal was to circle around all the lands once. Just once. Then she’d be right back home. Starting from the Viridian forest, she’d circle the map in a spiral that matched the lands, ending in the ice territories so she could fly a straight path back home. She was halfway through her trip when she came into the Idyll territory in one alcove of the Zephyr Steppes. Had she not stopped to rest, she would have missed this place entirely, but once spotted, it caught her attention.

Dragons and Beast Clans were intermingling rather than fighting. It was enough of an oddity that she spied on the place. After all, she didn’t know if this clan was open to strangers and she was not a fighter if they weren’t.

Unfortunately, she didn’t blend in well against the lush greenery. An Imperial found her. His name was Vivace, and he was almost every color of her family rolled into one. He had a very imposing stature, but he was calm and never gave the impression he wanted to harm her. So she took her chance to ask every question that had been brewing.

Idyll was a place that was cautiously open to strangers, but they welcomed all who sought a life of peace for all of Sornieth. It was a very idealistic dream. To want to bring together everyone of all Flights and Beast Clans alike? Cherimoya did not know where they’d even start, nor how. But they were managing as small as it seemed to be. This was just one of their settlements, with plans to set up a small outpost in each region. Apparently, the Windswept Plateau aided that purpose, operating as the central hub for the otherwise nomadic lifestyles of the clan.

It was strange, but something about it drew Cherimoya. As much as the clan leader, Aiton, worked to keep everyone protected, there was a lot to be done, and not a lot of claws to do it. She only stayed for a few days before she was offering her services for any chores. Years of learning under her father meant she could harvest and forage quickly. But, in particular, she used her size to her advantage in corralling the often much smaller hatchlings to safe spots about the Steppes that made their home. It felt natural to do, and in time she realized months had passed, and yet here she remained.

She missed her family, but she didn’t ache for a sense of purpose. Her work here aided in a higher goal, one she wasn’t sure would ever see true fulfillment, but in creating just a small haven felt enough for now.

Cherimoya & Vivace
Vivimoya

Cherimoya always kept a soft spot for Vivace. He was the first resident of Idyll she met, who introduced her to the clan, and always kept an eye on her to ensure she adjusted. Once she found a home and position, he often watched over her and the hatchlings. He became her companion long before they bonded as mates, as each sought stable comfort in one another, and they grew particularly close after an incident that forced her to protect a nest against unaffiliated beasts who meant them harm. Vivace chased the threat off, but Cherimoya realized how out matched she was.

She wanted him to teach her. At first Vivace was against it. He believed not everyone needed to learn how to fight, but he caved after a rather passionate plea from Cherimoya. For any reason, if he were not there, she'd have been alone, and she would be devastated if anything happened to the hatchlings and eggs while under her care. So, he relented, and began training her.

Now together, they both watch and protect over the nesting grounds of their clan. Vivace's bright colors work as a warning flag for those who think they might try to ambush them, and Cherimoya serves as an excellent back up as necessary, especially once she learned to use master using water as a force to drive folk back. It's rare they have such issues, but they're not entirely impossible, and Cherimoya is confident they can overcome any trouble their way.

Fun Facts: Cherimoya enjoys climbing over Vivace in her free time, even convincing him to give her rides just because. Also all her flower-jewelry are made by Vivace when he's on lookout to give to her when they retire for the evening, so she always wears them the next day.
