A Tale to Tell
The empyrean sky yawns outward, the buoyant clouds softly gauge your travel as they too float upon the northern currents. Alas, soul weary from your journey do your eyes travel back to the earth.
Below lay golden hills, beckoning, echoing to you softy of warm heather and sunlight. Flying as you may well have been, the scorching sun to your back, this land seems promising to your exhausted body.
A shallow tilt and a steady dive soon carries you to the land below...but behold! This land of gold is not as simple as it seems. On a distant hill to the north does sprawling white ruins gleam in the midday sunlight. Sun-kissed, worn with time, your curiosity peaks and naturally your course diverges.
As you approach the heady scent of heather tickles your nose and somewhere on this wind do sweet blossoms sigh.
Movement catches your eye.
Upon ancient steps does an ancient guardian sit, scales that echo the shade of the marble about, wings of the deepest shadows as the mysteries this place yet holds, and horns and spines of heather gold. Yet, it is eyes of blistering yellow that hold your gaze, with wisdom and strength. As you land with a stir of the wind, your head must bow in natural respect, for this is a creature even your instincts know it must show deference to.
"Welcome, traveler," rumbles the honeysuckle voice, with warmth and open friendship. "You're wings seem weary, you are welcome in my clan, burdens and all. Rest your body here but know that our minds are curious tools we never rest."
She stands up and for once do you truly know her mighty size. Body rippling with strength of battles fought, but she is calm at your side as she leads you in.
"I am Alpha Ingowil," she begins, "and this Clan is my family, treat it as such and you are more than welcome," she states with a warning hint. "You may peruse our mighty lair, we hold sway over this great expanse of land. We have mysteries and wonders here, and if you approach each dragon, a new thing you may learn."
She steps aside as you enter the heart of the ruin by her side. "Tread carefully and enjoy your stay, we have everything you may need so do not fear to ask. Please be cautious though of our books and artifacts. May there be light and truth on your path."
With a nod to you, she strides away deeper into the Sunbeam Ruins dappled in shade and sunlight.
