Dawn

Raised and trained by his mother, Vitali, it is only natural that Dawn inherited much of her sensitivity and protective nature. He is very attuned to the suffering of others, and much like his mother he worries that, in his Search to find the a single charge, he leaves too many vulnerable dragons unprotected. He feels a soul-deep calling to help as many as he can, and for some time he wandered the regions surrounding his birthplace in the Scarred Wasteland, venturing from clan to clan and offering his services to any in need.

His loneliness, he told himself, was a necessary side-effect of his chosen purpose: how could he selfishly yearn for a home for himself when so many stood in need of his help?

He did not intend to settle in Ocean's Heart, no more than he ever intended to settle among any of the clans he visited. But the survivors of the clan, and the strong-hearted warriors of the Garrison in particular, showed him a new path. Here, in a clan populated by survivors and strugglers, there is never a lack of dragons in need -- of training, of food, or simply of comfort -- and in return for his kindness and protection, Dawn receives something he'd always assumed he would never have: a home, and a clan of his own.
