Biography
The old sunshine dragon roamed a little apart from her mate, gently collecting grasses and mushrooms to take back to their patch by Sundial Terrace. The day was warm, which made for sleepy thoughts and time that moved both slowly and quickly.
She was shaken from the pleasant stupor by a call from her royal mate. Not in any way Royal, no. He really didn't have any place being such a rich royal purple in such a sunbleached land, but her mate had always been quirky to match. It's the sun, she decided. So might brightness dazzled both the eyes and the mind, and with so much time on his paws he was free to let the dazzlement go...
He called out again and the sunshine dragon had to shake herself again. She never said she didn't get dazzled from time to time.
She finally loped over, saying in a deep, soothing voice, "What are you on about, dear?"
"Look here what Bapa found."
She cocked her head. "Bapa? What's a Bapa?"
Her mate looked so delighted and smug. "I am, darling. Or, I shall be. But I am called Bapa regardless of whether I am a bapa yet--"
"Hello?" The sunshine dragon noticed the tiny owl snuggles between "Bapa's" paws for the first time. "Who is this?"
"Our sponsor." Her mate's proud smirk grew.
"That again? I thought that was a dazzle dream of yours."
"A dream no more, Mor!"
"You're repeating yourself, darling."
"No, no, that's your name now. We need names to have a proper Lair."
"And I'm 'More?'"
"Mor, it means mother."
"I'm going to go collect my forage, 'Bapa.'"
"Be sure to bring it to our new Lair. I'm going to take this poor scrap to sign up now." And with that, Mor's mate scooped the owl and its book onto his back and winged off for Registration.
The sumshine dragon sat there a while longer. "'Mother?' Hatchlings would make for an interesting change..."
