Pocket
Reality Bender
Aberration | Chaos
Crystal-divider-wide.png
Often described as the last dragon one would want to meet when in battle, Pocket is exactly what he seems to be. His two-headed aberration of a dragon confounds those who meet him, including all those he is closest to. Save for Lupin. Lupin was the very first dragon Pocket ever laid eyes on, and this led to a close relationship between adopted father and son, who are often inseparable when danger is near, or they are required in a battle. Which, thanks to Pocket’s reality bending abilities, danger is often near.

As a hatchling, Pocket was prone to getting in significant amounts of trouble because while his powers were weak, they were often haphazard, lashing out at those around him, including members of Beastclans which dragons would generally agree that it was best not to anger them. There had been many a time where Lupin had swooped in at the last minute to save the scarpering Pocket from a clan of Longnecks or other, angrier and far more deadly creatures.

Often described as quite disharmonious, as a hatchling, he did still get others in a significant amount of chaos and often left lifelong friends arguing and enemies holding hands. Thanks to the quick – and patient! – work of his adopted father Lupin however, he was able to curb these – supposedly accidental – mishaps and restore peace and balance to his growing clan. Lupin has never been quite sure how truly accidental they were though and has realised later in life that Pocket’s penchant for causing chaos and mischief may have been due to Pocket’s boredom. Luckily, the ever-prepared Lupin had a solution for Pocket. Hobbies!

One day Lupin brought Pocket out to the designated activities tent and began searching for solutions to Pocket’s boredom. They began with archery, but quickly discovered that Pocket seemed to enjoy turning the arrows into apples more than slinging and shooting the arrows. Then they tried friendship bracelet making but Pocket would simply turn the strings into snakes and let them slither away, once causing a stampede in the camp. Following that incident, Pocket was banned from playing with string, twine and rope for a while – and that still hasn’t been lifted. Incidentally, it was pocket himself who did find his new hobby. It was after that incident that he sat down with a sketchbook, humming to himself as he drew what to him was the funniest scene – Lupin getting chased by a python. Lupin had bent over and complimented his work, and in an attempt to get more compliments, Pocket continued to pursue the goal, although he was a little less invested in drawing than he was in causing chaos. And scrapbooking. No one’s really certain of where this hobby came from but one day Pocket presented Lupin with a scrapbook of their time together on Lupin’s hatchday, and with tears in his eyes, Lupin had squeezed Pocket, and with time to himself, Pocket had simply continued to craft scrapbooks to gift to his friends.

Even though they eventually learnt that his reality bending abilities were tied to his emotions and his ability to control them, this period in his life – where he got into mountains of trouble – set the stage for his chaotic nature to come out in full force.

However nowadays, his trouble-making serves the clan in useful ways. One of these ways is their ability to bend reality so that the campsite is hidden, and enemy clans cannot discover them. This however, can lead to bouts of headaches, and he often relies on Lupin to help him recover well after a long period of protecting the clan from harm. Luckily, the campsite only requires this during festivals and wars, times when emissaries from other clans are less likely to visit, or when they might be vulnerable to attack due to members of the clan being away for days at a time. At other times, the clan is in full view, to allow visitors and stragglers to stay awhile and bask in the clan’s warmth and welcoming nature.

This wasn’t all Pocket did however. With their bird and best friend, the Woodoon, Pocket often snuck off to explore outside of the camp, something rather frowned upon by the clan leader. However, due to him having few duties during times of peace, the guards typically looked the other way when he left, and Pocket rarely felt guilty anymore. He enjoyed hunting small birds and fishing, and Woodoon helped him as well with the bird’s sharp eyes and keen sense of smell.

Pocket’s towering figure often keeps hatchlings away which saddens him, not at all helped by the fact that animals – whom he loves – also fear him, as they can sense his abilities. He cheers himself up though, with the reminder that he has a lot of friends who do appreciate his ability to defend the clan and his easy-going nature. Aside from that, they always enjoy hearing his stories as well, because though they seem to always tell tall tales, his friends are always amazed when his stories turn out to be true. Little do they know that that’s because Pocket engineers them to be so! Pocket’s heads often agreed, but the one thing they disagreed upon was lying, so Pocket’s other head would mope about sulking while the other lead lavished their friends with tales of great wonder. To his acquaintances it was all part of the act, but the ones in the know knew just how to find out if Pocket was lying, and the key to that lies with his left head.

Pocket also greatly enjoys glamouring himself and regularly changes his outfit and colours so that he appears more fancy, or sometimes more chaotic. Due to his ability to get into small spaces, he can make himself a bit of a nuisance to dragons’ private lives unfortunately! But luckily they always understand that Pocket rarely means to eavesdrop on others, but sometimes it just happens.

Pocket and Lupin place great value in each other, and their loyalty to one another cannot be understated. Though they rib off of each other quite a lot, they rarely argue or fight, as Lupin’s strong unshakeable morals were passed off in a roundabout way to Pocket. Though he seems as though he has a weak moral compass, Pocket’s morals are well developed for his age, albeit a little unclear.

His aspirations nowadays primarily draw him towards developing his abilities to benefit his friends as well as the rest of the camp – even if, as shown, he does get a little side-tracked along the way.
