Gaze

Gaze is the one of the clan's mystic Sages, a rare contingent of dragons blessed with multiple eyes that enhance their vision both in the physical and the magical sense. Originally from a lair in the Oculus of the Eleven, she traveled to expand her horizons further, and eventually settled where her powers were of good use and aid to others. She's blessed with powers of probability; she is capable of altering probability with her glowing tail and to see through other dragons and see their fortunes and misfortunes.

One dragon she especially saw through was one named Geulah, as soon as he'd joined. She knew him to be the famously feared Skinwalker, assassin of forms. But seeing as she knew the Progens knew and promised to keep it secret, she did the same. When Geulah confronted her about it, Gaze explained she can see his change of heart, and that she may as well give him a chance to prove it rather than sabotage any chance of redemption. For this he was grateful, and they soon bonded and became mates.

Recently Gaze has taken a young sage who has newly arrived to the clan as her apprentice and student, named Gwyneira. She does her best to be kind, but firm, and not ease her path to growth with her luck powers. Gaze knows that if one makes the journey too easy, the destination is not as valuable. While she is not entirely sure herself what type of unique Sage powers Gwyneira possesses, she's sure they will show themselves soon enough. She'll certainly keep an eye out for any signs of it.

Gaze wandered the halls of the Archives, gracefully navigating through countless shelves of scrolls and books. With her nature as a Sage, she'd always been very used to the feeling of knowing. Knowing how someone felt, knowing why they felt the way they did, knowing secrets and stories. However, with much irony, she did not know much about Sages themselves. Not for lack of trying, of course, but Sages are a mysterious phenomena unto themselves. Seeing and understanding what Sages are all about is like an eye trying to see itself - possible with the right aid, yet difficult without. But with the development of Sages, finding the methods of research were no easy task, so little information was available.

That still did not stop Gaze from trying, of course. Especially since she was not here for herself this time. Today, she was here to research for her apprentice, Gwyneira. She's young and eager, and has not awakened her unique sage powers yet. It has been discovered that what attributes to Sage power is different for each dragon, but it's highly influenced by their patterns and element. But alas, Gwyneria had no defined powers to speak of. So today, they'd both arrived to the Archive to find some information on Gwyneira's possible powers.

"Gaze! Look what I found!" a voice suddenly perked up a few rows over, and an eager Pearlcatcher quickly flew over to her.

She turned around and smiled as Gwyneira flew over to her with a scroll in hand, "Gwyneira, remember to maintain library etiquette. Keep your voice down while in the Archives." she reminded her, then nodded towards the scroll. "What is it?"

Gwyneira slowly unrolled the parchment, the strong musk of paper an ink hitting them both. What's revealed is a long list of tightly packed academic writing, written in extreme detail and using elegant language. "It's a bit wordy, but from what I saw it's a list of all documented Sage powers. Maybe my powers are somewhere here!"

"That definitely seems like a start, good find." Gaze nodded in approval. "Though if I may express my concerns, if your powers were of a kind that's been discovered and documented, we would have been able to identify them by now. My current working theory is that your powers are of an undiscovered sort."

"Oh..." Gwyneira suddenly looked crestfallen, "Well, I don't think it will hurt to try, right?"

"Of course not, trying is always worth it. And who knows, luck may be on our side today" she winked at that, with her regular eye; as it is hard to wink when you have more than the two standard eyes. "Why don't you go find a quiet nook to read this scroll further? And as you do, try and tap into your inner power to see if any of the listed powers speak to you. Just do your best not to make anything explode."

"Yes, ma'am! I'll do that!" Gwyneira affirmed, and then flew off into the vast halls of the Archives.

Gaze smiled as she watched her young apprentice fly off. She had lots of soul and understanding, and perhaps once her powers were unlocked or revealed she will be able to more wholly embrace what it means to be a Sage. She turned and went back to scouting the shelves, keeping all her eyes out for the answers they seek.
