Upon the cool earth
And the land reaches up
To hold you in its hands
Soft and unwavering
Pebbles and roots
Line your back
Like the spine of ancient megafauna
Seeking solace in the earth
Water rises
Deep ground wells
Calmly ferrying life on its eternal journey
Itself immortal
More alive
Yet not
Than the flora above
And below
For rain falls in steady waves
Alighting on your eyelids
And slipping down
Impish, un-touch-able
Down your cheek
A mountain as tall as any hill
Wooded and lush
Vines grow
From your limbs
Brushing the ground in a soft curtain
Your feathers they use for lattice
In their countless fingers they trap your stories
Golden and misty
Tiny rain clouds above your stomach
Wetlands contained within your palm
Succulents tickling the space between your toes
Frost-covered branches rising from your forehead
A white crown
Almond flowers dusting your thighs
Their whitepink nodes linked by blackish branches
On your heart, eternally beats
The deciduous poplar
That dies
And lives
And dies
But is certain to live again
Your every breath
An ecosystem
