Book One- Shadow and mirrors

Chapter one- Awakening
Briar woke up, her fur chilled from her dream. It was the same repetitive dream. Luminescent eyes peering into the dark, shining like twin mirrors. It was almost as though they were reflecting some great evil. Some great danger. Briar blinked. The warm summer sunlight hit her pelt.
"Time to get up sweety!" a calming voice echoed, breaking into her remembrence.
Briar pivoted and saw her mother's round face. She had briar's eyes- or rather- briar had her eyes. They were pale blue and beautiful. Briar lept to her paws.
"Right! My cerimony!" she said happily. Today she would earn her wings.
"Hey! Briar!" a voice yelled.
"Frostwing!" she called back, coming over to great her friend. Frostwing spread their icy blue wings, covered in an icelike sheen.
"Hopefully, you get awesome wings like mine. Made of solid ice!" they joked.
"Ha-ha. I'm hoping for dragonfly. I just feel dragonfly-ish today." she said.
"Oh well dont let ME ruin your 'dragonflyish' feeling!" they said, in a mock-woefull voice.
Briar whacked them with her tail.
"Come on!" she said, padding off in the direction of the sun. They soon caught up to her.
"Ya know, maybe once you fly we can have some fair races!" they said. "Right now, your like a bug in my claws." they smirked.
Briar snorted.
"Just give me a few hours!" she said defensively.

Briar stood on the rock. Frost(something i forget i'll look it up later) was giving some speach on the next generation and the importaince of yawn boring.
"And now, I present, BriarFlight!"
Briar felt a sort of tingling and was suddenly surounded by light. Purest light. Blinding. Her fur looked like pure light and a searing pain shot through her back as large wings erupted from her shoulderblades. As suddenly at it had started, it stopped. BriarFlight stood there as she unfurled her wings. They were pale yellow and feathered. In the light, they sparkled with a thousand suns. Her own wings. She couldent help feeling a sense of letdown- She had wanted dragonfly wings. Theese would still do. A detirmined grin spread accross her face.

Her wings dazzled in the sunlight. Frostwing flew at her heels, unable to catch up.
"Who's the fast one now?" she laughed, as they flapped harder. Sunlight hit BriarFlight's face as she soared through the air. Nothing could ruin this. The snow banks below shimmered with the sheen of half-melted ice, not quite liquid, not quite solid. She touched down gracefully on a snowbank whinle FrostWing crash-landed next to her. BriarFlight started to laugh.
"Dont. Say. Anything." they said, their voice muffled as it was deep in the snowbank. They wrigled themself out as the sun hit BriarFlight's wings. The sun felt warm as she was feeling as she thought; I am good at something. Finally.
