As you wander around the walls around you begin to shift. You run, Trying to escape the maze, but instead you enter a rocky area with pools of what seems to be water. You quickly drink, you’ve been running for hours. Suddenly you hear a voice. “Ooooh! They drank it!” It’s Odalias voice. You panic, it tasted fine? “What do you mean?” You ask “it’s poison!~ “ she says in a sing-song voice “if you want to live, your gonna have to find Carosh!” You heartrate spikes, you begin calling out the name and running, looking frantically for ‘Carosh’ suddenly you hear a muttering, and you begin to approach it slowly. It just keeps muttering, “melt the ice, poor the poison. Melt the ice, pour the poison.” “Hello?” You ask. The dragon looks in your direction, he seems panicked. “No! It’s back!” He throws knives and glass shards at you. You do your best to dodge and try and speak to him. But he won’t listen, so you begin to fight back. Only once he’s immobilized do you risk asking another question. “Why are you fighting me?” But instead of the dragon answering, you hear Odalia again. “You know, he was once like you.” She laughed “he is one of the lucky ones! He became a challenger, instead of dying!” Your quiet for a minute, the dragon below you is writhing trying to get away from you. “Odalia, what can you tell me about him?” “He was a victim, just like you, but he went crazy trying to avoid the challengers. When he found the pools he ‘settled down’ but he was paranoid. So he filled the pools with poison to keep challengers away.” Your saddened by this. Poor guy. “Where’s the antidote?” You ask. “Right by his heart.” Your shock must be obvious because she adds, “he put it there so no one could get to it.” You look back at the dragon. In your shock he manages to get out of your grip. You keep fighting for a bit, before drawing your sword and stabbing him through the heart. You feel around the wound and find the antidote, and drink it. You set his body so it looks as though he’s just asleep. “Your free now. I’m sorry this happened to you.” It wasn't quite a funeral, but it was the best you could do. “He’ll never be free.” Odalia is back. “He became what he feared. He is now a challenger. No matter what happens, he will revive.” Something about odalias tone tells you there’s more to that story, but you need to keep moving. So they can’t die permanently….. you begin to wonder just how long Odalia has been here. How long you’ve been here…. You can’t exactly tell time in this place….

“Tell me the story about the poison one again!” This newcomer just won’t leave you alone. “He wast just ‘the poison one’ he was a victim.” “But legend says he’s a challenger!” “He is. But he was a victim first. The maze drove him crazy. Then it made him into what he feared most.” “That must be awful.” You laugh. Yes. It was awful. “It was horrible.” “Did you kill him?” “No. Well… I tried. But the maze brought him back.” “So he can never get away?” Your mind flashes to Odalia and Patch. “None of them can. None of them can ever be free.” You start to tear up. “Odalia used to be free… not anymore. And Patch… he can still leave, but guilt holds him back. None of them are truly free.” “ what if patch left? Would he be free then?” “No. The memories would haunt him. No one who enters the maze is free. Not even me…”
