Clan Role/Quote
┌━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┐
There is a fine line between terror and horror, one that is crossed in mere moments. The feeling of terror is filled with apprehension, an expectation that, at any moment, something is going to appear. Horror is the moment following that, when something has arrived, and all you can do is scream.

Prothises has walked that fine line all his life. From the moment he was born, he just felt off, as if something wasn’t quite right with him. Visually, he was no monster--he had two wings, four legs, and the furry mane all Imperials featured. Aside from the shimmering quality of his black hide, Prothises was a typical dragon by all accounts. And yet, when he was around others, that feeling of terror never quite left them.

As he grew older, it became clearer that it was Prothises that caused this unexplained feeling. One could always tell when he was near, as terror welled up within them, heightening when Prothises would silently appear before them. It was a dreadful feeling, one impossible to escape, and one Prothises seemed unbothered by. He never seemed to have a reaction to others’ discomfort around him, nor did he try and announce his presence before he appeared in disconcerting silence. Rather, he seemed content with this strange and unexplained phenomenon, living life as he saw fit. His days would be spent wandering the clan, or pouring over ancient, undecipherable texts, all the while terrorizing his clanmates without raising a finger.

There is, of course, speculation as to why Prothises produces such feelings in others. One theory is that he holds a glamor around himself, magically embuing fear in those that are near him. Others feel that his body is actually such a monstrous appearance that the mind cannot process it and views it as a typical Imperial, though the fight or flight instinct still registers him as a threat. Some believe he has made a deal with a demon of some sort, granting him power over others’ emotions. There are no real answers, not from scholars and not from Prothises. The only thing that is certain is this: Prothises is not to be trusted.

Terror comes before horror, and one day, Prothises must cross that threshold and reveal what horror he hides.
