Scarletstreak

Being the youngest child, he always struggled to relate to his older siblings. While Crimsonclaw and Thunderfall would brawl to practice their skills, Scarletstreak struggled to keep up. While jumping into one of these play fights, Crismonclaw accidentally flung him off and into a rock as her battle reflexes kicked in. While Scarletstreak was lying on the ground in pain, she realized that she accidently swatted her her younger sibling. Fortunately, he survived, but his foremost right wing was left damaged with the scratch seperating a slight part of the wing by a couple inches. This incident left him with the desire to prove himself as a fierce warrior.

What use was a spiral without the maneuverability in flight they were known for? Scarletstreak was already small, and although his elder brother had apparently become a fae, Scar was absolutely sick of hearing about what his siblings could do. He loved Crimsonclaw, but he resented her for causing his new disability. Traditionally, his family didn't leave the nest until they figured out their weapon of choice... but Scar decided to set out early. He couldn't stand the pitying looks. He really couldn't stand having to comfort Crimsonclaw, reassuring her he still loved her even as his resentment grew and grew.

Leaving was the best thing for everyone, really. Or at least that was what Scar told himself.

He swiped a Windbound Mask from his home Clan's stores and plunged himself into the Sea of a Thousand Currents. After all, what was a Plague dragon without survival instinct? Scar survived in the ocean the way most small things did-- staying quiet, staying hidden, and striking from the shadows. His shredded wing didn't matter in the depths. Water held his weight better than air ever could. Little by little, Scar let his old life just sort of... fade away. Living as a beast wasn't a glamorous life, but in a lot of ways, the crushing depths were a lot more comfortable than the Scarred Wasteland. And a lot more sparsely-populated.

Perhaps he could've gone on like that forever if it hadn't been for the Guardian's fishing net.

Every wild thing's luck runs out eventually, and for Scar, it happened to be at the claws of a native of the deep. Scar fought like hell, but the Guardian Riptide just let him tangle himself up further.

"Your mask needs exposure to air to recharge itself," Riptide rumbled, gently dragging Scar along in his wake. Beside him, an anglerfish snapped its jaws uselessly, pulled along in Riptide's net. Behind him, Scar could feel a fish's tail slapping his side as it tried to get away. After a while, Scar quieted down to listen. Something about recharging his mask?

"Smart boy. Do you speak?" Riptide asked a few minutes later. Scar tried a few times, but somehow couldn't find the words.

"If your mask runs out of magic, you will drown. Do you know how many years you have been down here?" Riptide asked.

Scar started to squirm, panicking now.

"Relax. Breathing harder will only deplete it faster." He sighed, heavy and deep. "We'll talk back at my clan. You need a weapon."

These days, Scar lives on the surface in Clan AXQU. Riptide taught him how to use a trident, and several other clanmates taught him to fly, using only his four rear wings. This has made Scar deadlier in melee than anyone has any right to expect of any Spiral. His fighting style is an odd combination of guerilla stealth and berserker rage. He's learned to channel his inner Plague magic-- before a strike, he'll often lick the points of his trident. If Scar doesn't take them, the disease will.

He's not well-adjusted, socially, but he's somehow managed to make a few friends in the Clan. And for him, that's enough.
