Hartwood is the master of the Verdant Garden, a domain situated in the Star Fields of the Mirage Mansion. It is a small forest for those unaccustomed to the Starfall Isles. The unnatural terrain of the arcane terrority may be unsettling for some, the Verdant Garden's green landscape serves as a place for dragons to acclimate and recuperate.

He prefers to stay out of the way of the Mansion’s dealings and live peacefully in his garden. He accepts anyone who wishes to permanently settle in his garden, but seems to view the arcane flora with disdain.

Hartwood is regarded to be talented, to be able to maintain a green landscape in an area with unstable magic. Kirin realized his talent and appointed him as the Nature General, in exchange for his own estate.
