Jargon
Linguist
Jargon is a bit unpredictable and does doubt she will ever have a real mate, however this doesn't bother her much since she's found such a profound love for language. The way that words move and change across Sornieth in both usage, pronunciation, commonality...whose head wouldn't swirl at that? Currently, she's collecting a book of slang words from across the world, tracking down the origin of each.
Before she ever heard about being a travelling dragon, she lived in Arcane with her wonderful mother Knick, aunt Knack, four male cousins and two older brothers. Living around so many male hatchlings has made her tough and willing to take a bit of teasing and play fighting, but she was also often with her mother, who was a good outlet for her. She would often hear from her mom about her dozens of half siblings and the contest between Knick and Knack over who could have the most hatchlings. This left her a little lost in her siblings with her mother occasionally forgetting her name, but she doesn't mind. She hopes her mama will win. Even as a hatchling living with so many boys, she'd had a free spirit and always wanted to see the world, find out what languages and dialects other dragons spoke and to find the roots and origins of her favorite words. When she heard about travelling dergs and heard that there was even a society for them, she immediately said heartfelt goodbyes to her family and left for a clan in the Wispwillow Grove that would take her in. |

Uh-oh, looks like this lil linguist lady wandered a little too far from her home lair (AmethystSeaWing, #515695), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

The tiny spiral slept on the imperial's back as they flew during the night. She was wrapped up in a little ball, her prehensile tail wrapped slightly around the imp's waist. The dragon didn't seem to mind, though... She'd probably done things like this before.
As Jargon slept, her mind began to fill with words. Songs, pages, more words then she could count. Curses, she need to learn how to count.
The next day when they arrived at the clan, Jargon was led by a kind looking, minty colored tundra to the place she'd be staying: an inn built over the waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She was given a room in an area for travelers where she met three other dragons who were traveling too. One was an excitable and thoroughly enjoyable skydancer, and the other two were quiet bookwyrm mates. She was happy to join them and introduce herself to them, though she was already missing her old home. Her plan was to stay in this clan until she was a young adult dragon, and then she'd be able to fly herself.
After she left, she wandered the world for a while. She stayed in a quiet Nature clan for some time, interested in the tales their historian had to tell. The quiet coatl was flattered by this attention - it was clear that she wasn't used to such attentive listeners.
When doing research for her book, Jargon found out that the dragons of this clan, partially isolated from the rest of the world, were a bit behind on popular slang. However, they developed their own colloquialisms that weren't used anywhere else. Whether or not this was proper slang or more akin to a long-running inside joke, Jargon enthusiastically noted down these new words before continuing her journey.
