Thyme
______________________________ She/Her ______________________________ "Care for some tea? It's my own special blend, always a little different each time I make it." |
___ ____________
The first dragon to be born in this little crevice of the Viridian Labyrinth, Thyme is the oldest of four siblings. Two went off to join other clans, one pledged his life to serve the Gladekeeper that gave him and his family sanctuary in her domain like their father, but being born blind, Thyme had to find other ways to experience the world. As it turns out, those ways involved magic. As she learned to navigate the world through touch and sound, her senses became more attuned to the rustling of the leaves, the scent of the earth, and the constant vibrations of the energy of life coursing through everything in the Glade. With that on her side, learning to unlock and use the magic within herself was a simple matter.
She learned to channel that energy into the vegetation around her, learned to create her own plants out of it, with unusual properties, abilities, and uses, but her crowning achievement had to be her seeing-eye flower, Tulip. Perhaps it was a magical fluke, or a blessing from the Gladekeeper herself, but one day, one of the plants she had been training just uprooted itself and started following her. Strange, to be sure, but with her new companion and navigator, Thyme wasn't going to complain.
Dragons often ask Thyme if she ever gets sad, knowing she lives in such a vibrant and beautiful place, but being unable to see it. Usually, she tells them to just be quiet for a moment. Not to shut up, but to listen to the world around them, the wind in the trees, and the singing of the birds. Then she tells them to take a deep breath and smell the scent of overgrowth and fertile dirt, and the herbs drying nearby. She'd say these things are just as vibrant and beautiful as those colors she's heard so much about.
Then, if the other dragon seems apologetic for asking such a rude question, she offers to make them a hot cup of tea.
