Extradimensional deity of Edginess, neon/prismatic colors, and creativity, created by collision of strong emotion, contrasting magic, and an artist's love for their creation. Lives in a realm of their own creation only known as the "Nightcored Realm". Legend says that when visionary dragons are cast out from their home flights, prismatic Banescale-like attendants emerge to escort them into the Nightcored Realm, bringing them to a deity who'll appreciate their talents. Their friends and family usually assume they're dead. As far as everyone knows, this is a good thing, and all dragons who've been escorted into the Nightcored Realm seem to be nothing but happy about it. Course, given that the Realm is just a projection of Edgecrafter xemself, it's entirely plausible mental manipulation is involved. Other than spreading creativity, xeir motives are completely unknown.

Edgecrafter's heard about another entity claiming itself to be a Lord of Edge. While he's in another dimension from her and thus she isn't a concern, he's still concerned about the fact that Endmaker goes against the whole creative idea of edginess Edgecrafter supports by forcing all creative output from her hosts and followers to be turned towards her and her alone. Edgecrafter can't manifest in Sornieth anymore though due to being made of inherently contradictory magic, so they can't currently do anything. If they want to launch any attacks on Endmaker, they'll need to send their heralds to do it. So far they haven't brought it up.

Other names Edgecrafter goes by are the Contrasting One, the Defiant, and the Lord of Edge. More meme-oriented denizens of the Nightcored Realm call xem "Edgebucket" and xeir followers a "bucket of edgelords" after their original character name of "Buckets", which xe really doesn't like.

Battle Abilities

Prismatic Meditate Conceptualize
Edgecrafter focuses their creative energy into magical potential which appears around them as multicolored sparks of light. The more energy is put into them, the more of the color spectrum appears.

Shred Don't Cut Yourself
Via their reality-warping deity powers, Edgecrafter edgelords so hard it physically cuts the opponent.

Rally Inspire
Edgecrafter sends a flood of new ideas to an ally or themself, which inspires them to fight harder and more creatively. The good vibes transferred from this action add to Edgecrafter's magical reserve as well.

Aid Catharsis
Draws in negative emotions from all nearby sentient beings, converts them into raw energy, and uses that energy to heal Edgecrafter and those around them. Non-Edge dragons caught in the aura may be damaged.

Other Abilities

  • Edgecrafter can change the colors of xeir body at will. Xeir favored form is the black and prismatic one you currently see due to it being sentimentally attached to Cypher, their creator and how they were originally conceptualized. Other than that, xeir body can become any color, but only ones that are either highly saturated or completely black. Essentially, xe's the ultimate eyeburner.
  • Due to xem being designed as a Banescale, Edgecrafter is also capable of using physical force via xeir spikes, horns, and claws and a breath weapon made of Edge magic. Xe prefers not to, though. While xe's still substantially stronger than non-deity dragons, most of xeir strength is in xeir mind, both in the form of psychic powers and mundane creativity and social strength. Edgecrafter and xeir heralds generally prefer to inspire the populace or approach conflicts diplomatically as opposed to fighting themselves.
  • It's unknown where Edgecrafter's heralds originate, seeing as their magical signatures don't quite match those of their deity so it's unlikely that he entirely created them himself. He can, however, telepathically communicate with them and summon them no matter where he is.
  • Edgecrafter can send ideas directly into the minds of xeir followers. These ideas can only be in the form of visuals or sounds, though, words or verbal thoughts can not be transmitted.

Nightcored Realm Trivia

This is all written from an out-of-universe perspective to get some general information for lore reference and because I like doing infodumps in this style. Not all of this is necessarily known in-universe, please keep that in mind when writing any lore I request. - Enforcer
  • Entering the Realm slowly turns dragons into their most idealized fictional selves. Cypher wasn't originally a dragon with Starmap and shiny opal. The further along this transformation is, the less time the dragon can spend in Sornieth and the more people forget them. It eventually gets to the point that anyone who doesn't have an emotional connection with them forgets they ever existed. People who had emotions about them, but not that strongly, think of them as fictional characters. They can't place what work they're from other than that they consumed it in the past, but have opinions about the work and the now-fictionalized dragon that match what they knew about the dragon in life. Those with strong emotional ties to a dragon e.g. family members or close friends don't forget them, but don't know what exactly happened to them. As far as they know, the dragon went out and never came back. They usually assume they're dead.
  • Once a dragon is fully transformed into their Nightcored self, they can't stay in Sornieth long. The transformation fundamentally alters how their body and soul work. If they stay, they'll revert to their original form and can never access the Nightcored Realm again. Over time, their memories of the realm will fade and they'll interpret them as dreams, fictional works they consumed, or hallucinations. They can still go to Sornieth briefly, though, this is how Edgecrafter's heralds work. This means dragons can see their families and explain what happened if they so desire after they got spirited away.
  • The transformation effect is unintentional on part of Edgecrafter's reality warping. He just wants everyone to be their best selves, but being a deified edgy OC himself, he doesn't quite get how to do that. The forgetting is not intentional on his part, it's just a side effect of incompatible animum encoding.
  • Negative emotions are very rare. When they appear, they're usually full on theatrical angst. Whether this is because Edgecrafter just wanting everyone to be happy is making them happy, because they actually like it, or because they're all basically neon overpowered edgelord OCs with very little emotional nuance is unknown. They are still capable of feeling negative emotions, they're just dimmed and aren't expressed as readily.
  • Dragons in the Nightcored Realm don't need to eat physically, but can to enjoy the taste without gaining weight. Also food in there is super vibrant and good and nearly all the local wildlife and plants are both edible and delicious because why not.
  • Dragons in the Nightcored realm can and do take mates if they're into that, but can not produce offspring. The animum fields are too unstable for elemental eggs to form.
  • Edgecrafter honestly does just want everyone to be happy and be their best selves, he just doesn't get how exactly to do that on grounds of being a deified edgelord. He doesn't understand why people angst over people forgetting them. Why would you want to remember a world where you were an outcast and couldn't reach your full potential? He's charismatic and puts up a good façade of social strength as a creative leader and visionary, but doesn't really fully understand how dragons interact, especially with negative emotions. He's a little better at it with Cypher since, being his creation, Edgecrafter has a better understanding of the artist's mind than with most dragons.

In many ways, deities themselves are fascinating. All have their own unique abilities, unique homes, and unique blessings to give mortals. There was one in particular that everyone's eyes were on. The Extradimensional deity of Edginess was the most vibrant of the deities. The beautiful prismatic colors and magic that flowed within that deity were far beyond the imagination. Although the prismatic colors , creativity, and magic brought an overwhelming emotion of joy, the deity's motives were very unclear. Most were wary of his presence, how the most vibrant deity was the most silent, and very underwhelmed, the bright colors on the dragon didn’t reflect the deity's attitude.

Although the other deities weren’t amused, dragons that have been outcast from their homes are welcomed with warm open arms into the “Nightcored Realm”. Everyone was completely awed at the deity's realm, it was like a drug to the mind, completely drawn into the colors and the happy sensation it brought. Those who outcasted these dragons presumed they we’re dead or even forgotten about them, and that brought many questions to others, what was their purpose for bringing in these dragons? Why did everyone forget about those who had been banished, and had been presumed dead. What was Edgecrafter's real motive? Behind the magic and prismatic colors, something lies deep within.

Edgecrafter is the embodiment of creativity, in sense, they draw most of their power from the works of art, music, poetry, etc. Basically, anything that people create, this deity draws their power from. Why even this page I am writing is giving this deity some form of power, no matter how small it might be, whatever someone creates something Edgecrafter draws power from it. Though they might be a deity of promoting creativity, he has had some edgier moments within his realm.

The Banescale’s edgier moments would honestly consist of probably going through some sort of burnout. Even though he is a deity of creativity, even a god would have some sort of burnout. His burnout would most likely consist of him going around destroying something recently created. Though in a few moments (or even mere seconds, time is relative in the Nightcored Realm.) he would go back and fix whatever he destroyed in his fit of edginess because he wants everyone to be happy in his realm of creativity.

With a deity of creativity, there would ultimately be a deity of destruction, or in this case, the true deity of edge. Though Edgecrafter can’t physically fight the Endmaker off, for he can’t travel between his realm and the real world known as Sornieth, he has his heralds to help fight off the threat of destruction that Endmaker holds in her clawtips. Edgecrafter considers this deity a true threat to creativity itself and has kept a close eye on xir since he’s heard about her.

Their was a myth circling around his realm and in Sornieth, that Edgecrafter and Endmaker are brother and sister, like the sun and moon. Though Edgecrafter denies these claims, Endmaker remains silent on this as the historians of Sornieth are still discussing the matter if the myth is true and can be proven to be fact. Whatever comes of this rumor of this myth, Edgecrafter and Endmaker both know that this could cause problems in the future. For the better or for the worse depending on who you ask.

Another myth that was circulated around came back from the dawn of when he was first created by Cypher. The myth was that because he was created by a dragon that had no magic, that anything could in fact, be created by thought, or by finding a magic paintbrush that was both deity touched and shade touched. The paintbrush in the myth was described to be passed around to each deity before it eventually was lost to time and eventually ended up into the hands of the shade itself. Countless times dragons lost themselves to madness looking for this deity-shade touched mythical paintbrush. Archivists and historians that live in Earth near the Terraclae, have tried to find the paintbrush but to ultimately fail at each dig. But dragons are stubborn creatures, and will try and try again to get at what they want in the end for any sort of power to hold over others. No matter what you think, this magic paintbrush could exist, or it’s a mythical artifact. It just depends if you have the time to go looking for the answers that can prove if the myth is in fact true.

The sky ebbs and flows to the rhythm of a faraway beat powered by draconic creativity and ingenuity, the most ideal forms of countless dragons’ showing themselves freely.

A colossal banescale, perches above it all, xeir vibrant and prismatic scales shimmering brilliantly; a reminder of xis creator. A fae, possibly more creative than ximself, who was the sole reason that this alternate reality could exist. The more xe thought about it the prouder he became, puffing up his chest slightly and a small grin slowly grew onto his features.

How could one not be? Xe and xeir heralds had given countless dragons the life they had dreamed of, one where they could express their individuality and artistic visions freely and share with many others similarly-minded. Edgecrafter stared at the pulsating sky, xis tail curling around to be more comfortable.

As the ground throbbed to a familiar tempo and the rifts of brilliant iridescent light, the banescale, created from pure creativity and passion, admired xis realm from afar.

I cannot leave this realm though, I have to keep my powers at bay. If even a sliver of my power were to escape, your world would be doomed. You could become like me. Every place needs a balance; the longer you stay, the more you forgot in exchange for your perfect self. The self you want to be, the idolized existence that would never occur in the mortal realm. Edgecrafter just wants everyone to love themselves. Instead of the sorrowful, depressing, anti-social, filled with doubt kind-of dragons all over the mortal realm.

The Edgecrafter. Surely you've head of him? The deity draped and etched in creative and bright colors? Nothing? How do you not remember?!? What DO you know?

Whatever. Come on, just- follow me.

THIS is the Nightcored realm, see how BEAUTIFUL it is? Okay okay, now do you see the Banescale perched up there? The one that would burn the unworthy's eyes? The gorgeously colored deity with no distinguishable gender? Good. There's only one up there, or in this entire realm in fact. I haven't seen another, at least.

Well they made this realm the way it is! Colorful. Unique. Fun to look at. Vivid. How else can I describe it? Tasty? Don't look so confused! Here, just eat this flower. I don't know what kind- stop stalling! See? Its sweet, maybe a bit sour towards the stem but nevermind that.

And don't you feel so much better in this realm? I mean- how could u possibly be sad when everyone is so friendly here anyways? Don't you love it? Or how about all the creatures they are just so cuddly and sweet - except the scaly ones. They are just sweet and scaly he he. You get it right? All of them are just like regular creatures - obviously better though.

If u stay here though, dragons will forget about you. In turn, you will forget about them as well. You will forget your sorrow as well, but it's up to you. It's your decision.

Edgecrafter felt out-of-place in a different deity’s territory, but xey didn’t know what other locations there were to inhabit. Xey consulted the Lightweaver, who had already heard about xem from the stories going around her territory. You first heard of the Edgecrafter when you passed by a group of hatchlings whispering in the woods, slacking off when they were supposed to be hunting. You knew they wouldn’t answer you if you asked them, because they were older than you, and according to them, that meant that they were better than you. You didn’t hear much, just the name, and something about a story. None of them knew who wrote it, from what you heard. They weren’t even sure if it was a story, a drawing, or a play they had seen. For hatchlings who claimed to be so much better than you, they didn’t actually seem to know much at all, at least not when it came to this Edgecrafter, anyways.

When you got home that day, you asked your mother who the Edgecrafter was. She got a strange look in her eyes, and seemed troubled, but her answer was nice enough. She told you the Edgecrafter’s realm was where dragons go when they died, or when they couldn’t stay in Sornieth any longer. It was a beautiful place, according to your mother. Dragons who were there couldn’t come back, but they were able to forget all the bad things that had happened to them. Your mother told you the Edgecrafter’s realm was a place where you could become the perfect version of yourself, better than anything you could become in Sornieth.

When your father came to put you to bed that night, you asked him who the Edgecrafter was. He rolled his eyes and told you to get in bed, ignoring your question. You scrambled into your nest, then looked up at him, swearing you weren’t going to sleep until he told you his version of the story. He sighed and plopped down in front of your nest. The Edgecrafter, he said, was an evil deity, who stole dragons away from their home, to xier world full of colors so bright that they hurt. He said that they took dragons away to this terrible place and made them forget who they were, and that if you didn’t go to sleep right this instant, you would be next.

Once he had left, you crept slowly out of your room until you reached the cave your older siblings slept in. You asked your sister first, and she told a story much like your father’s, a story of an evil Banescale who kidnapped dragons and took them away. In her story, the Edgecrafter’s realm was called the Nightcored Realm, and it was a beautiful place, where everything looked and tasted wonderful. But underneath those colors, your sister warned, was an awful place full of trickery and death. Your brother laughed at that, interrupting and saying that the Nightcored realm really was as beautiful and peaceful as it looked, and that everyone was having fun there. He told you that, though you could never come back, most dragons who were invited did go to the Nightcored Realm, because it was so beautiful, and because you could do whatever you wanted there. According to him, there was no downside to the Nightcored Realm, not really. Then your brother and sister started fighting over who was right, and you crept back to your room before the noise called your parents.

The next day, your teacher told the class that the Edgecrafter wasn’t real, and he seemed to be glaring at the hatchlings you had seen yesterday. That didn’t seem right to you, so you stopped listening. He was a boring teacher anyways. After all, if there were so many different stories out there, at least one of them had to be true… right?

And look at that, he’s edgelording right now! However tempting, don’t reach out to touch him while he’s in this state, you’ll cut yourself!

Now, let me show you around. Here, look at this AMAZING tree! Don’t stare at it for too long though, it’s too neon for your eyes.

Here, everything is good and well. Don’t be afraid here, the horrors that used to threaten you every night can’t get you here!

But, the thing is, you can’t get out either. That’s a bummer, but a very small price to pay for happiness! In fact, is it even a price?

What? You were wondering what’s the deity’s name?

That’s easy. He’s the Edgecrafter! If you shine UV light on his scales, the colors glow EVEN BRIGHTER!

At least, the Nightcored Realm residents say so. No one’s ever tried, that might disrespect his Glorious Edge!

And, everything tastes good! Here, try this piece of bark! See? It’s REALLY GOOD!

AND, during the night, Edgecrafter flies over the Realm, casting bright neon light on everything!!

You are going to love it here! I swear, you just need to get used to it!

Oh, THOSE stories. You shouldn’t have listened to them, Edgecrafter doesn’t kidnap and kill innocent dragons to trap them here for all eternity.

What, you’ve been told that everyone here dies a very painful death?

Why is everyone telling you such bad things about Edgecrafter?!

You’ll love it here, just you wait!”

The Fae scribbled in their diary, and soon whispered, ”You were right. I do love it here.”

What was the relationship between a creator and their creation?

That was something Edgecrafter had always wandered, during the quieter times. As both a creator and a creation that could communicate and engage with both his creator and his creations, he was one of the rare few who could theoretically know the answer to that intimately.

He knew what the relationship between himself and his creations were, of course. The Nightcored Realm was created by them, and as it’s creator, they were in charge of keeping it safe, looking over and taking care of it, adding upgrades to make it better whenever needed, and just generally making sure it didn’t collapse on itself.

It was a simple sort of relationship, much like one between an engineer and their machine.

And yet, Cypher had never really treated xem like a machine before.

Maybe it was because, unlike machines, Edgecrafter existed in a way that was sentient. Indistinguishable from other dragons like Cypher except for xeir size and xeir powers. But that didn’t really answer xeir question, did it?

If anything, it left xem with even more questions. And maybe xeir realm almost never had strong negative emotions, but that didn’t stop Edgecrafter from feeling… frustrated.

Still, there was no denying that his creator had a special place in his heart. Just like how he had a special place in Cypher’s heart.

He made sure of that.

After all, his creator was now living in his realm. He held a special rank that was higher than anyone else’s but Edgecrafter, a special gift to him. And maybe he’d tried to get him to stay permanently too, although Cypher didn’t really need much convincing.

And despite what some of his subordinates assumed — that he’d locked his creator up to torment him, out of spite or his former name or something else entirely — he did treat him well. It was hard to not care for the dragon who’d cared about him even before he was alive.

To find out what exactly the relationship between such a creator like Cypher was with a living creation like him…

…perhaps Cypher could answer that question?

“Where’s Cypher- ah, nevermind, found him.”

Edgecrafter didn’t wait for one of their followers to answer their cut-off question before they were taking a sharp turn in the air, flying to the grounds that they had gifted their creator. Despite being one of their heralds, Cypher was treated better than the others. Still, nobody complained, especially when they knew the backstory behind his treatment.

The ‘grounds’ were just a wide, one-story tall house, but they worked well enough for Cypher to stay in there almost every day, cheerily creating new art of different things. Occasionally, Edgecrafter would head over there when they were free to chat with their creator, play a couple games of chess, and maybe even stay for a while to watch him create, to insert ideas into his mind about what to create…

No. They weren’t heading there to do that today. There was something far more important than that right now.

…but they could always play around for a bit?

Edgecrafter hummed delightedly as they landed, shifting into a smaller form — although still bigger than most dragons their size — in order to enter the house properly. They could mould the house to be bigger of course, since everything in their realm was under their control, but where was the fun in that?

Also, it felt right, in some way.

“Cypher!” they called out, sliding into the drawing room where they knew Cypher would be in, grinning smugly as they spotted him perched on a stool, adding the last bits of colour to a canvas.

“Edgecrafter!” Cypher greeted them, smiling at them for a brief moment before turning back to his canvas. “What brings you here today?”

Edgecrafter cheerfully pounced forward, stretching out as xe laid on the floor, yawning. “It’s been long since I’ve visited; there’s just soooo many things to do, especially with that fake lord…” the muted distaste leaked into xeir voice at that, though it was quickly replaced with an eerie happiness, “Ah, but once I get to it, it won’t be staying that way for long!”

“At least you can relax now, can’t you?” Cypher soothed, making a delighted noise soon after, which always happened every time he managed to finish a piece.

Edgecrafter hummed, preening at the slight flow of power xe’s gotten from the finished artwork. Xe could feel the attention and care poured into it, and it was good… “Mhm! Which is why I decided to pay a visit to you today. Isn’t that fun?”

“Sure,” Cypher spoke in that tone of voice that meant he was curious, as he reached for his sketchbook and a pencil. But what was he curious about? “But I can tell you’re here for something.”

“Good guess!” Edgecrafter said, standing up once again, the question he wanted to ask repeating like a mantra in his mind. “And you’d be correct about that; I wanted to ask you something, actually.”

“Yeah? What is it?”

Edgecrafter wondered what sort of response Cypher would give. He wasn’t sure if he would be happy about it or not, but either way, it was an answer nonetheless. He wasn’t really losing much from it, anyway, so why wasn’t he just asking it right away?

Instead of asking the question xe wanted to ask, though, somehow a different question came out of xeir mouth, as xe started moving forward.

“Would you make another like me one day?” Edgecrafter wondered out loud, as xe curled around xeir creator, continuing to watch him sketch out the beginnings of a plant on his sketchbook.

The pencil clutched between Cypher’s claws paused. “…what brought that up?”

“Is that a yes?” Edgecrafter questioned, tears appearing in their eyes quickly and dramatically. “Oh, woe is me! Having to live such a dreadful life, just to be replaced so quickly-!”

“Okay, okay, let me answer properly,” Cypher snorted, reaching out a leg to kick them. “As for that… I’m not sure. I don’t know if I could recreate you at all, even if I wanted to.”

“…that’s still the same answer as before,” Edgecrafter scoffed. “Except in prettier words.”

“Nothing could ever replace you though,” Cypher laughed easily, ignoring xeir words. “You were the first that- y’know, that actually came to life! Nobody could ever replace your place in my heart.”

“Good to hear,” xe hummed, trying — and failing — not to sound too pleased. “Besides, if something ever does, I’ll just get rid of it first!”

“Whatever you say,” xe could tell Cypher didn’t believe xem. Oh well.

“Ah, right,” Edgecrafter remembered the question xe wanted to ask from the start. “Say, what would you consider the relationship between a creator and their creation to be like?”

Cypher’s claws slipped, and the pencil dropped.

“Uh?” he made a noise of confusion. “Repeat that?”

“The relationship between a creator and their creation,” Edgecrafter twisted their body to look Cypher in his eyes. “What do you think it’s like?”

“…well,” he said slowly, and they waited in anticipation. “It depends.”

“On what?”

“On whether you’re self-projecting when you’re asking me this.”

They snorted. “Of course not, can’t I be curious about something like this?”

“Well, it’s not that you can’t, it’s just…” Cypher glanced away awkwardly. “…you’re in a rather unique position when it comes to this, don’t you know?”

Of course they did. Why else would they ask if they didn’t know in the first place? “So? What’s your answer?”

“Well,” Cypher cleared his throat, his eyes focusing on the sketch of the plant held in his hands. His eyes softened. “It’s… love, I guess? Not that sort of love, but rather the kind that’s built on time and attention. If it’s a beloved creation, then there’s just something about having something that you made, that you spent your time perfecting and developing, that you thought of yourself, from your own mind, and all… there’s some gratification in there too, at seeing how your creation turned out as well.”

“Wow,” Edgecrafter blinked. Rarely was he surprised by Cypher anymore outside of social things, and yet… “That’s cheesy.”

“Aren’t you the one who asked me in the first place?” Cypher scoffed, though he wasn’t able to hide the flush in his cheeks. “Anyway, does that answer your question??

“Hmm…” Edgecrafter thought it did, but at the same time… “I don’t know.”

“Well, you have time, don’t you?” Cypher shrugged, eyes flickering back to his paper, going back to colouring in the plant. “Things like these take time to figure out. You don’t have to understand it now.”

Right. Time.

Edgecrafter groaned, tilting his head back. “Ah, but patience is boring if it’s not paired with creativity!”

“Then just think of this as a different kind of creativity,” the other responded easily. “Isn’t that what you do?”

Then, Cypher turned to him with a grin, and continued. “Besides, you’ll be fine in the end.”

For a moment, they sat in silence, as Cypher turned back to brush off the dust created by the crayon, careful not to accidentally tear the paper with his claws.

Edgecrafter hummed. Their voice was noticeably softer when they spoke up next.

“We’ll be fine in the end.”

What was the relationship between a creator and their creation?

Perhaps Edgecrafter would never truly know the answer to that as a creation nor a creator.

Still, xe had time to figure it out, and that was all that mattered for now.

Xe'd always had a love for creative dragons. The artists, the writers, everyone in between; the ones who'd dare to bare their souls to the world, to put their hearts on a page.

So why, then, did so many cast them out? Xe's seen it a dozen times before—the same, sad story, played out over and over again on repeat.

Dragons who spoke the truth with their work. Dragons who weren't afraid to make art out of the uncomfortable, the fringe topics that nobody wanted to acknowledge. Dragons who created the things that appealed purest to them, the most beautiful in their eyes, the best extensions of their soul, no matter what everyone else thought of them.

It broke xeir heart, every time xe saw some poor dragon flying away from a clan that they had been born and raised in, with little more than a few belongings and a bit of treasure to their name. All because of close-minded dragons who chose to see them as outcasts instead of what they truly were. Beautiful.

Xe couldn't stand to stay and watch and not do something about it.

So, xe made something. A realm; an extension of them, of their heart, like all creative works are. Somewhere vivid and vibrant, colorful and perfect; everything good about Sorneith, taken to the extreme, so that there was nothing negative left. Nothing bad for xeir chosen to worry about. Nothing would ever trouble them again, if xe had xeir way.

And then he made heralds; dragon-like beings molded in his image, so that they could act as his voice and his talons when he could not.

And to all the outcasts, the lonely and the brave, the visionaries who didn't—couldn't—fit in anywhere else, he sent those heralds.

And to those who were scorned everywhere else, he said, Come home.
