aaaaaaaa As a hatchling, Aeria had the same dream as every kite. One day, she would visit every corner of Sornieth. From the brilliant Lanternlea Port in the East to the Dripcave Dregs that her Gaoler ancestors used to go home, she would see it all. Sornieth was hers to explore, her parents assured, once she was no longer a hatchling.

Every kite believes they're going to see the world, but Aeria knew she was more than talk. She wouldn't stop at the neighboring domains and come back with pretty trinkets and no tales. Any kite can go to the Ashfall Waste or Sea of a Thousand Currents for a vacation. She wanted more than that.

It took years. At one point, she realized that it had been so long since any Wind dragon made such a journey, that perhaps she needed to do more than remember stories. She started to sketch Sornieth below, capturing every detail. She asked the locals about their domains, spending months and years to gain their trust. When she had the time, she carefully inked in some color, bringing life to her map.

Going back home was hard. She spent so much time traveling that she didn't remember what it was like to have a stable home anymore. Her parents were a blur, her friends a distant memory. But she had a detailed map of Sornieth, and she imagined another youth kite, wanting to explore the world. She could give them her map, map sure it was copied, and continue traveling.

She handed the map to the Gale Sanctum scholars, preening under their praise. It took no time at all to transcribe new copies of the map. The scholars promised her they would send additional copies to the other domains to ensure this knowledge was spread throughout Sornieth.

Soon, there were enough copies of her map that she could take back the original. She planned to add more notes, not for future records, but for herself. Who she met, what she did, how she lived. A record of herself, just living, exploring. She might've seen all of Sornieth, but there is still a lot of explore.

“Phenomenal! Though, how did you get up here?“

“Flew.”

“Flew! Why I,” Windsinger looked around with a puzzled face, “I don’t see a kite, nor a machine, nor any sort of-”

“No need.”

“I, if you excuse me.” Windsinger twirled around to contemplate the physics of a gaoler flying, but only for a moment. He whirled back to face the ever-waiting Aeria.

“You, my friend,” he held up a palm, “deserve a high five.”

Written on his hand was a faded Rixa. Who was that?

“Oh!” Windsinger beamed with glee. “Oh I have the most wonderful story about her. Would you mind staying for tea?”
