The Queen of Thieves

I will stand in the Darkness.

As usual, Liglanaerr has retreated away from Brightshine's oppressive light. She has appropriated Tellikys to finish studying the aether in the soothing gloom of the deep lava tube shelters.

*

Liglanaerr is not amused with the sandsurge. She has never known anything about them, having presumed that the burrowing done in Lightning was the work of adapted ridgebacks, and is hellbent on studying them thoroughly as soon as possible. To that end, she enthusiastically supports recruiting one, ideally a young and foolish specimen.

Liglanaerr was one of the first dragons to join the fledgling Cindercone Clan, and has been a fixture on the clan-council since their establishment during the clan's first Riot of Rot. Sly and mocking, she treats leadership as a sort of game—relieving the tedium of collating information from the patrol and Sprucetip's woodsdrakes with verbal traps and fear-inducing pranks. In truth, she has a deep loyalty to the clan that she has helped nurture for six cycles and a maternal fondness for many of them, but is rarely persuaded to show it.

Of all the clan-leaders, Liglanaerr is the one with the clearest vision for the clan, albeit one that is at odds with the more nebulous principles of the others. She would see them a clan of tricksters, thieves, and sellclaws, a vision she managed to realize and successfully run for two cycles during the clan's time as the Rogue's Camp on the Plague/Shadow border. Her highest allegiance is neither to the current version of the clan nor her vision for them, but to Shadowbinder. She is a loyal spy to the Shadow goddess, and spends much of the time she is not in her offices in Cindercone Territory meeting with her contacts: wild dragons, beastfolk, and various elementals. She wears several tokens of Shadowbinder's regard, in the form of her shadowy armor and thorned cloak, but as the clan's informal Shadow representative this is not seen as strange.

Liglanaerr manages to maintain a fair degree of popularity in the clan, despite her petty cruelties—her wit is amusing when one isn't the target, and no one doubts her utility to the clan or work ethic. She has a particularly close bond with Chysiraal, and the primary allegiance of several other loyal Rogues, including the formidable Coccino. She is Comandrus's primary sponsor and the closest outside his kin. Among her contacts, Telleren is also known by the wider clan.

Craft
Liglanaerr rarely devotes much time to artwork, but her works tend toward the textile. Decorative knotwork, sometimes enchanted, and embroidered scenes are her most common works, taking full advantage of her small, dexterous forefeet and eye for detail.

Physical description
Liglanaerr is a small, powerfully-built skydancer with large, nocturne-like wings. She is highly elemental, with translucent fur covering a hide that seems made of shifting shadows and wings with the faint halflight of a nocturne-candle. She is fluidly graceful on the ground and has a powerful, agile flight, but is a poor swimmer. Her mild scent is reminiscent of wet moss, nut oil, and elemental Shadow.

Combat
Liglanaerr is a fairly formidable physical fighter, though she relies on a blade rather than her naturally small claws. She is an elegant, agile swordsdrake, melting away before she can be struck and dealing devastating blows to vital areas with her dark blade. Most of her forays into the Coliseum are currently alone.

Origin
Liglanaerr came to the clan during its earliest days on the command of Shadowbinder, and immediately installed herself in as close to a position of power as she could manage. She weathered many turbulent times in the clan, but almost always on the fringes of events, quietly watching and reporting to Shadowbinder.

Her old clan is primarily on the trickster side of Shadow, rather than the spying or scheming, but she has long since lost contact with them.

Kin
On her father's side, Liglanaerr is almost entirely skydancer. Her mother, however, is a wildclaw, from a long line of coatls and wildclaws. Many of her ancestors are strongly elemental, and many serve the gods as exalts or mortal-world dedicants. She made a brief mention of this when she joined, leaving the implication that she was either fleeing exaltation in her old clan or intending to join Flamecaller, but has not shared it with anyone since.

Liglanaerr has produced two nests of her own, one with a spiral now presumed dead, and the other with the misfortunate Striker. She is coldly indifferent to her children, and has shown little interest in their fathers.

Familiar
Liglanaerr picked up the webwing on one of her first solo forays into battle. The innocuous creature serves her much as Mvvb once did by monitoring where she cannot. A striking creature nevertheless hard to spot in the ember-strewn ashfields of Fire, Strife is anything but stealthy in flight, producing an ominous rumbling hum far out of proportion to his pigeon size.

Liglanaerr maintains a good relationship with her former familiar, Glint the Umbral Wolf, but without a familiar-bond or common language he has no way to report to her. He is still a regular presence in and around her lava-tube lair.
