Biography
Byrne was part of an archaeological expedition in the Shardsnap mountains that went south when the area started undergoing arcane distortion and they had to flee.
He and his crew had unearthed a trove of artifacts, among them a cursed skull that everyone was under orders NOT TO HANDLE, but in the haste to leave, Byrne grabbed it.
Byrne was separated from the group and ended up in Iari’s cavern, where he began growing patches of stone and crystal on his skin due to the skull’s curse.
It’s not all bad though. The cavern’s resident monster seems to leave him alone and he seems to be able to control stone and gems with his mind now.
One downside to the whole situation: the skull’s owner never really left it’s bones and isn’t too happy about being disturbed.
It took some time, but Byrne eventually escaped the caverns and reunited with the dig crew. He was however unable to be rid of his curse and the spirit that haunts him.
