FR Anniversary Explainer Flight Rising was launched 8th of June 2013. Previous to this there was a kickstarter campain and both an alpha and beta tester period. Sadly, our clan missed out on all of them. We did, however, join just before the first ever Brightshine Jubilee. I will tell you about the anniversary celebrations and a few of the changes Flight Rising has seen over the years. |

The corresponding vistas have no icons because they were applied directly to the account. Kickstarter backers could also buy buttons, concept books and the right to draft a breed or wide variety of items that would be implemented in the game. This was also the only time you could buy imperial scrolls, and all backers got the female guardian skin. Purchasing any bundle with several items yielded one code for each chest or scroll.

2014
The first anniversary we got cakes. Let them eat cake, not Cake. We also got Tomo's Trivia Tablet.
2015
The second anniversary we got Baldwin's Bubbling Brew and the Loga. From this day all anniversary items could be brewed for a limited time.
2016
The third anniversary we got the colourwheel expansion and a lot more vistas became available. We also got the birthday vista.
2017
The fourth anniversary we got the dressing room and treasure apparel bundles. We had to brew the celebration sage apparel if we wanted it, as it was not dropped into our hoards.
2018
The fifth anniversary we got eye types. We also got the slight eyewing and a few scattersights.
2019
The sixth anniversary we got the first ancient breed and the Dripcave Deputy to go with it. From this year on, anniversary gifts were no longer dropped directly into our hoards, but had to be collected from Galore. I don't count the 2 clanbound gaoler scrolls as anniversary gifts because we always get something similar with new ancient breed releases.
2020
The seventh anniversary we got the dragon profile rewamp and scenes. The anniversary scene and some food items were this year's gift, but I'll only post the scene.
2021
The eight anniversary we got a new anniversary scene and the Dustcarve Dig, the first ever site-wide collaborative event. Staff called this type of event Sitewide Efforts, or limited sitewide events.
2022
The ninth anniversary we got an art update on the top banner of our nests, lairs and profiles depicting specific lair locations within each flight. Staff informed that more are underway and will follow your chosen lair loccation in the future. We also got 5 items themed around mapmaking that were gifted by Galore, could be brewed, bought in the treasure MP and found in the coliseum.
2023
Then tenth anniversary will probably be very special, celebrating 10 years of trial and error, learning and success!

Timeline of New Additions to Flight Rising
This list includes new features, breeds and important site rewrites. It does not include new apparel, genes, familiars, bug fixes and minor updates like art updates. There is a complete list offsite, but you can also leaf trough the entire Announcements & News forum if you like. The basic features of FR upon release were basically dragon profiles and breeding, clan profile and hoard, bestiary and messages, the coliseum, dominance, gathering, marketplace and the auction house, crossroads, festive favours and flight holidays, the forums and the world map. The fairgrounds had the games Runestones of the Arcanist and Jigsaw. The trading post hosted only Crim, Pinkerton and Swipp. This timeline follows the real years and not FR years, which start 8th of June.

Downtime Gifts
During the first two years of the game, there were some unsceduled downtime. As an apology for these, staff issued downtime gifts to all the players. These were dropped manually into everyone's hoard. Nowadays FR has better servers, more staff and much more experience, so only sceduled downtime happens and we don't get apology gifts for that. Here is a list of the downtime items, which are now retired except for rare appearances as Roundsey's Raffle Roulette. You can also buy them from other players, but expect them to be very expensive.
You can follow Flight Rising's official channels on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. They rarely use their youtube channel, so for news I recommend facebook. For fan art share I recommend twitter and tumblr.

Umbra travelled around for most of his life, at first as a way to see the world and discover other cultures. Then he discovered his love for all things sweet, so it became his goal to try all types of new sweets across all regions. Umbra met Esperi in the Starfall Isles, and they immediately bonded over their love of one thing: Cakes. They both had a dream to open up their very own bakery, full of the rich sweetness that brought them together. But in the shadow of the observatory and the starstruck, 'eyes-to-the-skies' arcane dragons, they longed for more freedom, friendly and breezy attitudes. Where else but the wide open spaces of the Windswept Plateau? So they packed their bags at once and made the quick journey across the sea. Once there, the pair found refuge in a small shack, the windows needed repaired and the floorboards creaked underclaw but it sparked a dream in both of them; opening a cake shop in their new home would be a great way to introduce themselves to their neighbors! But with new surroundings came new challenges and they discovered they weren’t the only one to find refuge in the abandoned shack. The ghosts, spirits, and general haunts gave a warm welcome to their housemates and it wasn’t long before they too put in the work to clean up their home.
Nestled in a comfy nook between two large boulders in the breezy home of the Zephyr Steppes, the smell of baked cakes wafts over your nose. It almost seems as though your wings have a mind of their own as they bring you to the doorstep of a quaint storefront. The wooden sign hanging over the door seems worn, but you can still easily see a cute ghost escaping a cake with the name of the bakery above it. Peeking inside, you see the dragons that already beat you there are huddled together as they wait for their orders; once you follow suit, your eyes travel over the glass case filled with a whole array of different cakes, each one looking better than the last. One of the workers behind the counter pushes over a boxed-up slice to one of the customers and catches your eye. With a smile, he waves you over the register; “Welcome to Jophiel’s Haunted Cakes! What can I get for you today?”

Funfact: rather larger than most of my other banescale males, yet quite lightweight. It must be the ghost in him. Usually wraith can't be felt, only seen. However, Cake's wraith feels like cottoncandy! He won't let you try to eat him, though.
