The three eggs were found oddly placed in a small nook in the northern Shrieking Wilds by Carcass, the clan's adventurer mage. As the eggs looked healthy and nearly ready to hatch, the pearlcatcher decided to wait close by, mostly spurred by curiosity. Why were there three elemental eggs out in the wild, arranged so neatly in what could hardly make for a suitable nest? It didn't take long to see the hatchlings. A Wind mirror, who cried the loudest, thrashing out of her shell. An Ice tundra, who tried to seek warmth and shelter among the fighters. An Arcane fae, who gazed around with large, innocent eyes. Carcass decided not to take the three hatchlings back to the lair. Young as they were, they would probably be kept around the rest of the hatchlings, and then trained to fight once they were old enough. Depending on their ability, they might get recruited into the clan, or sent to serve under the Windsinger. However, such outcome would not answer Carcass's questions. No, the truth would be swept away by the gale of time, and he would never know why the hatchlings were permeated by such an intriguing aura. How had they come to be there, the three of them together, in a territory that belonged not to either of their elements? |
