As Voltie sees it, there is always a problem to be solved. Sometimes those problems are other dragons which is when his little snaps of static come out, warding people back and away and out of their bad moods, but usually the problem is a practical one or an engineering one. And oh, Voltblade is good at fixing those. He's had the knack from the first, as evidenced by his primal eyes. Lightning is in his blood and bones and all his body so of course he studied engineering and of course he's good at logical problem solving. There's a reason he's the clan engineer and the one to whom most problems are taken. Almost always, he can solve them. Of course they're not always engineering problems, or not solely engineering problems, but what are friends for if not to help in times of need, if not to be people with whom you share interests? And if that is so, then they are people to whom he can turn in times like this. And of course, his friends are just as good as he is. |

Krakonos has probably been his friend for the longest, even if most would never suspect it looking at them. Most people think of Water as Lightning's bane even though it can conduct it where Earth simply disperses. Of course, Water can disperse too, that's part of the joy of their friendship - in the end, they're in perfect balance. Hermaeus has been his friend the next longest period of time probably - an accidental friendship to be sure, Voltie had only been looking for a reference text for his coursework - but sometimes when a conversation is struck up, it's not one that one wishes to leave. Besides, Maeus is much better at the books than Voltie is. Magrus he's possibly known the shortest of all his close friends, but close they are nonetheless, even if Voltie only met him through Maeus and Azalea. Skilled in spellwork and an advanced enchanter, Magrus keeps Voltie's tools in better condition than he's been able to since he left the Tempest Spire, and he's glad of it. Azalea is far from the least of his closest and dearest. Thoughts of her are where most of his thoughts start, and where they always circle back to in the end. He'd never have met her but for his friends - Maeus, specifically, in this case - and her magic is well-suited to balancing his, just as Krakonos' is. It's good to have someone who balances him not just in personality and preference, but in other ways as well. |
