Biography
ABOUT REN
Hey hi! I'm Ren! Amarenth, Neri and Nucifer are my nicknames but my full alias online is NeriumAmarenth (yeah, not oleander lmao). I'm a trans aroace mlm (no my aromanticism and asexuality does not cancel out the fact that I am gay. I love men. Men are wonderful) I'm a huge nerd that loves video games, manga, cryptids, and dnd. I'm currently a fine arts major in order to become a game dev eventually! In fact, I've released what's essentially a game jam game on itchio called Greenwood: Amaranthus. You can learn more about my characters in the Greenwood tab of my lair (or click those OC icons up above!). There you can learn a little bit about the main characters of my game!! I would love to talk to someone about them so you can....maybe PM me about them sometime....
My non-game-related hobbies are archery, hiking, and photography. I also love gardening, which can be seen through the flower motif of my lair here. Flowers and the language of flowers are one of my special interests! I garden a lot in my free time and have proclaimed myself as 'Plant Dad' :>
As for FR related stuff, I actually started in Arcane!! In 2014 when I joined I was originally part of the Arcane flight and switched to Shadow. Recently, I switched to Nature...I'm sorry goopmom. I was inactive on this site from 2017-2021, so I'm missing a BUNCH of stuff. My favorite breeds in this game are gaolers, coatls, and imps (in that order!). However, gaolers are by far my FAVORITE breed. I love their antlers, I love their fluff, and the blossom gene is literally the best thing added to this game.
If you want to learn more about my ocs, see more art, or learn about them, check out my toyhouse or tumblr! a lot of my OLD bad art is on my tumblr and my toyhouse needs to be updated because I don't use it much, but I'll be adding more content to it as I figure out how the site works.
Anyways this was less of a bio for myself and instead, a place to infodump about lore on my visual novel! Details below!!

SYNOPSIS
Greenwood takes place in a dnd-esque fantasy world heavily based on already existing high fantasy media or real life mythology, although most of it has become my own personal world at this point. The story of Greenwood is split into four games, or at least, I plan for it to have four games. Each will focus on my main characters: Haru, Lupin, Evren, and Nacht. I'm not sure if I'll release or write the games in that order, but Haru's story has already been somewhat released in the form of a game jam demo. I will be rewriting it but for now I'm on a hiatus from working on it because I am, simply put, burnt out.
Each game will have a different message but throughout all my games there's a consistent theme of self-care or self-improvement. These characters and the stories I manifest through them are my way of coping with my issues. In fact, Haru, Nacht, and Third Mark are derived from my past experiences with toxic people in my life. The stories I write are hopeful, at least I think they are. I want others to find comfort in them as I do.

GAME LORE
Want to know a little bit more about the world of Greenwood? Here are some key topics, concepts, or people that you should be aware of!!
Mainen wrote:
Mainen are a cursed race of people that are humanoid but have feral attributes of animals. It isn't known who was the first being to be cursed with the spirit of an animal, however, it isn't uncommon to see someone with fluffy ears and a tail, or perhaps reptilian eyes and scales. The bloodlines of animalistic families are strong and have learned to adapt to their beastly characteristics, such as using their keen senses of smell or heightened hearing. If nurtured and taught well, a Mainen's life can be very fulfilling.
While the characteristics of animals can be inherited through familial branches, it can also be induced via a curse. It may not be common, but greedy individuals see the curse as a physical advantage they can exploit. These individuals are referred to as "Tame" Mainen. They are not natural born like normal, "Feral" Mainen. Those who are not used to the existence of having another being's soul within them may be overwhelmed or disappointed by it. It can go either way. Either the person cannot bear the heightened sense of their animal's soul within them, or they feel underwhelmed by it. The itch for power may not be enough for some Tame Mainen, and so they become disillusioned by their want for even more.

Druids wrote:
The druid are spread across the land of Ysdrasil and aren't keen on being around non-druids. They live within tight-knit communities in their respective regions, and nomads are somewhat rare. There are seven circles of druids!
For the most part, they keep to themselves and don't bother to integrate into modern, New School magic. The basis of their own magic differs between the circle of druids and the uses pertain to their specific environment.
Alstonia - Tropics // Specialty lies in poisons, both in inflicting and curing them. A lot of their magic involves healing or regeneration and they draw their power from water. They used to be two separate factions of druids, however, they united a long time ago. Coastal druids live in huts and caves along the coast in areas that are hard to traverse to. Boreal druids live in the tall trees more towards the center of the mainland.
Arenaria - Mountain // The most secluded and hermit-like of the druidic circles who live at an extremely high altitude that’s difficult to reach. They are skilled in divination and derive magic from the stars. Their magic can affect dreams and memories which is used to tell the future. Due to their proximity and devotion to the stars, they worship constellations. Some druids wind up venturing outside of their circle and wind up in Starmaw.
Ekesia - Savanna // Their magic is utilized for tracking, trapping, and restraining. Food is a sacred aspect of their culture and they honor the prey they catch. Among the non-druids, they are well known for their great skill in hunting. They are also known for their developed culinary culture. Some scholars speculate that an individual among their circle was the root of the Mainen curse many, many centuries ago. Many of the Ekesian druids are Mainen themselves.
Fabale - Forest // The Fabalian druids are extremely adept at shapeshifting and have a way of communicating with animals. While they are not able to completely talk to the fauna of the forest, they have an uncanny way of conveying their thoughts to them. They are the most open and welcoming of non-druids and are known for their craftsmanship and hospitality. Like the Ekesian druids, they greatly honor the land. Unlike their counterparts in the savanna, they are the most religious of the circles.
Feltlich - Arctic // Very resourceful group of druids who make use of everything they have. They have a reputation for being hardy survivors as well as being extremely wise. The magic they use is not used much in their daily life, which is filled with chores and tasks needed to sustain their community. Their spells are illusory and are derived from light. The druids of this circle are able to live very, very long lives.
Inkkap - Swamp // To those outside their circle, they seem more witch-like rather than druidic. Of all the circles, they are the most receptive of New School magical technologies. They invest themselves in alchemy and the sort, and some druids even attend the magical academies of Ysdrasil. The magic they are most specialized in is similar to the Feltlichen's illusory spells. The difference is that they take advantage of the mist and fog of their environment to cloak themselves.
Kalan - Desert // A circle completely hidden by their massive underground city, the Kalan druids specialize in what can be referred to as necromancy. It's not as sinister as most would believe, as they use their spells to preserve their resources. Because of how scholars have categorized their magic, there is a disconnect between the two groups.

Third Mark wrote:
Third Mark is the mercenary company that's central to two main characters' stories. When Haru was 19 and Nacht was 21, the two founded the company. Nacht was the one to push Haru into establishing it with him, believing it would bind them closer together. Haru doesn't notice until two years into Third Mark's formation that Nacht was only running after more power, and that he wasn't really invested in their relationship anymore. Aside from Haru and Nacht, the founders, there are 7 more mercenaries.
Burn Riesenberg aka Lilium // Paladin and a big ol' himbo. Only individual from Third Mark that Haru still has a good friendship with. He quits not long after Haru leaves and joins a more honorable guild.
Syd Wolford aka Sorrel // Third Mark's sharpshooter. Horribly tone-deaf jokester who Haru has grating memories of. She has the tendency to drive people away from her due to her insensitive nature, but she's not inherently a bad person.
Sylvester (Sylvie) Adalgar aka Thistle // The canary. Was an abandoned orphan until Haru picked them up. They had a knack for information gathering and became the informant for Third Mark.
Vincent Espinosa aka Calystegia or Cal // A skilled mage and assassin. Used to be kindhearted, but turned bitter and depressive. His intense self-deprecation and loathing hurt those around him, leaving him alone. He ends up cursing himself and becomes a Tame Mainen.
Nao Vernalis aka Adonis or The Pheasant's Eye // Newest member of Third Mark, albeit the most sinister. He's a concupiscent vagrant who wanders between partners and jobs. His alignments and loyalties are unclear. Is he even on Nacht's side?
Kadri Hall aka Nettle // Third Mark's second-best assassin. Unlike Vincent, she specializes in close combat and physical fighting. Doesn't care about her wellbeing, so she treats each mission like it'll be her last.
Esme Lucero aka Marigold // The cleric of Third Mark, and the only one who has had formal magical education. She seems nice, but not many people like her. It seems like she has hidden motives, but they are unknown.

Old World vs New School wrote:
The Old World magic refers to the spells that the druids cast. They derive their magic from the environment they live in and the way they cast their magic is more persuasive as compared to other mages. Druids in my world are like the textbook/dnd manual druids, and anyone else is more akin to a wizard or sorcerer. They live in tandem with the wildlife that surrounds them. They do not take. They work with and give back to the nature that provides for them. This is why the druids of Fabale and Ekesia are so religious. They do not worship a particular god, but the land and its beings that helps them survive.
New School wizards (although you can refer to them as sorcerers, mages, or any other magic-caster term) are mostly scholars and study ways on how to advance magic. They love magical endeavors and use technology to make their calculations precise. When they cast spells it's usually reliant on a device that aids them, and they do not work with nature as the druids do. If they were to try and glean power from nature, they would command it rather than asking for help. New School mages have a disconnect from druids because they don't try to work with them. Therefore, they wind up misunderstanding or misinterpreting their way of life.
