There is a river to the south of the Wyrmwound that snakes and turns out towards the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Believed to possess magical properties, this river attracts unique weather patterns only seen in this particular region of the Plaguelands: high above it, swirling clouds of deep crimson carpet the sky. Muck-filled waters reflect the cloud cover, painting the river a brilliant, menacing red color. Hence the name Blood River.

The sun has not shone down upon this twisting stretch of water for many ages due to the dense cloud-cover, and so the surroundings have adapted to a sunless existence, making it a haven for fungi and special plague trees that thrive in the shadows. What little life flourishes here is resilient and fierce. But it's not just the color of the river, or the strange foliage that sit on its banks that unnerves dragons. No, there's something in the air: a dark stillness, an uneasy feeling. Anticipation coils like that of a beast waiting to strike upon its unsuspecting prey, leaving all who trace the river's path with a feeling of dread. It is a cursed place, even for the Scarred Wasteland. And some say that if you disrespect the river or it's wildlife, it's guardian dragon will appear to exact revenge...
