"Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust?" - Frankenstein's Monster
Deep in the swamp, a facility thought long abandoned was still active. A mad scientist and their assistants used the souls of dead dragons to bring life to dragon flesh stitched together. One day, however, the Dark Powers freed the mad scientist's creations, and they immediately rallied together to overthrow their creators and destroying what was left of their equipment. These creations now roam free, making sure no traces of their creators and the forbidden knowledge they possessed comes to light. Ogre and her mate, Deucalion, followed the instructions of the Dark Powers to the letter, ensuring that their fellow creations were fed and safe, and in return, they helped the Dark Powers to destroy their enemies in the area. Outside of hunting down the dragons that tried to harm her kin, Ogre spends much of her time constructing shelter for her fellow creations. Due to their appearances, they were shunned by many nearby settlements, and so they had to scrounge for food and materials, and often had to move in order to keep the weaker of their numbers safe. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ogre awoke from a pleasant dream of ripping Doctor Ripley's head off. The scientist in charge had put her loved ones through so much suffering, she desired nothing more than to break free and take revenge for all the pain they caused. She was still nursing wounds from when Ripley's underlings caught her trying to break out of the factory and beat her as punishment. Deucalion had tried to put himself in between her and the creator's baton, but in the end they were both severely beaten. She only wished that Deucalion wouldn't put his own life at risk to protect her, she could handle herself. If they hadn't fallen in love many years before, she would have liked to avoid his presence altogether. "I can give you the power to fight back," a voice hissed. "Prove it," Ogre snarled, her eyes darting around her cell for a source of the voice. She heard a chuckle as power surged through her veins, healing her wounds, and Ogre stretched out her shoulders and cracked her neck, eager for what was to come. "TEAR THEM APART!" The command echoed throughout the entire facility. Ogre heard Deucalion's bloodcurdling howl, and grinned widely. Ogre effortlessly smashed through the reinforced glass holding her in her cell, and charged into the factory, ready to free her kin and take revenge on their creators. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Come on, everyone!" Deucalion's voice called from the front of the crowd of creations. Ogre volunteered to stay near the back to cover their escape just in case anybody came after them. She flexed her claws; she was more than ready. Her beloved Deucalion was leading their kin away from that horrid factory they had been reborn in, and none of the several dozen of them dared look back. They moved at a fast pace, fleeing deeper into the swamp, as a presence pulled at her and Deucalion's minds, telling them where to go. She could tell that the other creations were ecstatic to be free and to find new lives for themselves, but that would have to wait until they found a place to settle down first. After several hours of hiking, they stumbled upon what looked like a small fishing village near a boggy lake. Relieved to see a warm, cozy settlement to rest in, Deucalion led their fellows into the center of the village, where, to their horror, they became surrounded by villagers brandishing various crude weapons, glaring at them with scorn in their eyes. She then noticed the villagers' children cowering behind them, their elders standing between them and the creations. They were afraid of them. An older obelisk dragon stepped forward from the crowd, wearing an eye patch and wielding a longsword in his meaty claws. "I don't know who you people are or why you're here, but if you don't want any trouble, you'd best find another place to spend the night!" She could tell that he was putting up a brave front; he was barely able to keep his voice from quivering. "They are not worth your time." The voice echoed in her mind, and she lowered her claws. "Come on, everyone." Deucalion called again, and the villagers parted, allowing the creations to exit the village, no longer enthusiastic about their newfound freedom. Where were they supposed to go? Ogre swore to herself that if they couldn't find a home, she'd build them one. She'd do it herself if she had to. |
