Jacaranda
Lore-keeper WORKING ON PROFILE
Origins - Skillful, purple paws flipped the pages in a book that had recently been returned. Light blue eyes scanned the pages for any imperfections like they had done thousands of times before. Jacaranda loved her work, and made sure every book in the clan's library was in the best condition. Of course, this proves to be quite the difficult task, when looking at the older tomes that were the homes of hundreds of stories of her clans heritage, legends and traditions she had written in the years she'd been with the clan. The striped Skydancer has managed to restore most of the books to their former glory by cleaning off the dust, retying the spines of the books and straightening out the pages as best as she could. The only imperfections remaining were the tears and stains on the pages that were near impossible to repair. Jacaranda smiled as she reached the last page without a tear or stain and she made her way towards the shelves towering over her in the large hall. She placed the book back into its rightful place, before returning to her desk to check through the next returned book.
"Jacaranda!" a voice called out and the young Skydancer looked up from the book she was writing to see the general of her clan trot towards her. The larger dragoness smiled down at the purple Skydancer, who instantly looked back down into the book she held to hide the blush creeping onto her face at the sight of her friend and general. "What do you need?" Jacaranda asked with a polite voice after clearing her throat. "Oh! I was just wondering about a book about the clan's founders. I was talking about some of the younger dragons about it, but I don't remember that much about it anymore, so I wanted to borrow the book so we wouldn't annoy the progenitors with questions." Tallemaja said with a kind smile. Jacaranda carefully placed the book down next to her and rose to her paws. "Sure! Follow me, it's in the back of row nineteen." The young dragoness said as she motioned the larger Imperial to follow. Her eyes scanned the books in row nineteen as she walked through it and stopped once she spotted the book that showed the faces of the clan's founders and carefully pulled the old leather tome from it's spot in the tall bookshelf. "Here you go! I think chapter seven should be most important since that is where the book starts talking about the founding of the clan instead of his heritage and personal life." Jacaranda said with a kind smile as she held the book up towards Tallemaja. "Thank you so much! You truly are gifted, you know. I couldn't even remember a few facts about him and here you are remembering the chapters and locations, and then the amount of books you have written in the time you've been with us is astounding." Tallemaja said warmly before making her way out of the library with the book she had gotten. A blush crept onto Jacaranda's face as she remembered the compliment the general had given her. "Quit it Jacaranda! You don't have time for any of that nonsense. You have enough to do with the library and lore-keeping." she mumbled to herself and sighed as she realized she had not been paying attention to the pages of the book in front of her. She shook her head in frustration and started to check the book for imperfections from the beginning. "Huh?" she said quietly as a small pine twig fell from the book she was looking through. She carefully picked the dried twig up and looked at it closely. "Looks like it came from the southern icefields, but why would it be in a book about... Oh, the southern icefields!" Jacaranda exclaimed as she looked at the cover. "What are you writing?" Tallemaja asked with a soft smile towards the Skydancer beside her. "I am writing about my home. I've been writing down so much about this clan, so I felt like I should write about where I came from as well." Jacaranda answered absentmindedly as her quill danced across the page. "You know, I don't think you've ever told me about where you came from and why you left, Jacaranda." the larger Imperial chuckled. This caused the Skydancer to put down her book and quill and look up her friend and crush. "I came from a fairly small clan in the southern icefields. I've always loved reading and writing, so I decided to travel the world and find another place to stay. Somewhere where I could be more useful and not just sit around reading the same stories every day. And, well, I came to the Gladeveins for the fresh air and the atmosphere. And I absolutely love it here if I'm being honest! Writing all these books has made me happier than I've ever been! Besides I got to meet you- I mean all of you. This clan has been nothing but kind to me!" Jacaranda said with a large smile as she plucked a small pine twig from her bag and placed it inside of the book she'd been writing. "Hm, I'm surprised the twig is still in there. It left a dent too... Maybe I should throw it out?" Jacaranda mumbled as she twirled the twig between her claws, but decided to simply place it back into the book. It could show the readers what pine needles feel and smell like. Jacaranda stood up and placed the book back into one of the bookshelves before blowing out the mostly burnt out candle and retreating to her room for the night.. -Story by Maybe Human. Personality - Diligent, witty but knows when to keep things serious. Extremely focused, basically married to her work (if it wasn’t for Tallemaja that is). She loves her clan and its history, and has dedicated her life to it, committing everything to scroll. She has an encyclopaedic knowledge of her Clan, and is knowledgeable on surrounding clans and the entire Viridian labyrinth. She misses her parents occasionally, but they make the trip from the Southern Ice-fields to visit occasionally. Her crush on Tallemaja, and Tallemaja’s crush on her, is the clans worst kept secret. Mate - Tallemaja, eventually. Clan Role - Librarian Quote:
