Name meaning: Eostrix is a genus of extinct primitive owls in the family Protostrigidae, along with Oligostrix and Minerva. These owls date from the early Eocene of the United States, Europe, and Mongolia. They have been described based on fossil remains. The genus was created by Pierce Brodkorb in 1971 to place a fossil species known until that time as Protostrix mimica.

Notes:
- Inspired greatly by the Eurasian Eagle Owl.
- Has the ability to freely traverse the lands of both living and dead.
- Her mane and diaphanous wings (which are feathered) help her camouflage into her surroundings. They are green in their natural state, but much like a chameleon or cuttlefish, will adapt to her background and render her virtually invisible.
- Her flight is completely silent, and her body is covered in thick, soft feathers
- Some believe her to be a nature spirit, associated greatly with the afterlife, owls, and death. She resides in forgotten forests in the North, though has no preference over climate temperature.
- Of Slavic origin. In fact, many consider her to be a Strzyga
- Her singing can lull anything to sleep- be it dead or alive. This is also one of her main ways of hypnotising prey and enemies: with an eerie, yet melodically beautiful, almost sorrowful, song.
