Nadia is a lovely creature. Beautiful, graceful, and kind, she treats everyone in the pack as a friend, and every visitor as an honored guest. Her manner is sweet without quite slipping into saccharine (except sometimes around her mate, Boris—the two of them are head-over-tail about each other, and have been since the moment they first met). Although her heart is incurably romantic, her day-to-day life is well grounded in practicality; she’s more than willing to take on hard work despite not being physically strong, and she’s not averse to getting dirty if necessary. This is good, because part of her role in the lair is to oversee the hatchlings, and of course hatchlings are inevitably accompanied by messes. Her gentle, yielding nature conceals the fact that she’s actually extremely stubborn, and it’s almost impossible to get her to do something if she’s truly dead set against it. Oh, she never argues or complains, only smiles and deflects, distracts, ”forgets,” or, if nothing else works and she’s backed into a corner, faces the demand with a level gaze and a calm, implacable “no.” This is exactly the way she deals with the children, and it works surprisingly well on adults, too. Nadia loves simple pleasures and uncomplicated beauty. She has a tendency to favor routine and can get flustered when suddenly confronted with new things, but she faces them gamely enough (and is usually quite relieved when they’re over). The best part of any day is spending quiet time with her beloved mate as they cuddle, share their most intimate thoughts and dreams, and take delight in each other’s presence. Nadia has no ambitions, no greater goals in life than to continue this peaceful, orderly, and happy existence.
