Biography

shadowfull2.png

Uh-oh, looks like this frozen imperial wandered a little too far from his home lair (546245, inkfrog), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or this hub if you don't want a traveler in return! This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful! You are also free to breed this dragon while it's in you possession.

FrostBite, is an old myth long forgotten, his story told to those foolish adventurers that would try to best the cold, and ultimately fail. Or a bedtime story for hatchlings to stay inside on the nights it got unnaturally cold. His story, told by those who didn't heed the warnings, and would wander into the cold at night and scarcely make it out with all their fingers to tell the tale. But centuries passed, and the stories were told less, and less, only remembered by those old enough to remember their encounter with the frozen being who brought the coldest days to Sornieth. And gradually the being of legend himself had disappeared into obscurity. Although recently rumors tell of an emaciated cloaked figure wandering through the forest on the coldest day any being has seen in centuries. So, with the frozen figure on your doorstep, will your clan be able to out last the cold?

As long as a journey to the Southern Icefield as it was, FrostBite found it necessary to test his mettle against the bitter cold of Icewarden's domain and- in particular- its Fortress of Ends. Above him, giant spires of ice that crystallized even his breath before him, it truly was the truest test of his cold. Faring well, he soon noticed a strangely large spire that reached up toward the sky and did not hold the same shape and structure of all the others around it. Searching for a while, he finally came upon a cavern entrance with a single shed Skydancer feather from a recent visitor. Resolving himself, he proceeded inside with the intent on finding those who braved the coldest weather in all of Sornieth for their precious solitude.

Inside, he felt as though the tunnels were twisting and winding around him. Each turn and step back left the tunnels he thought he had seen before in a different state than before until he could no longer hear the wind howling from the perpetual snowstorm outside and he knew he was lost. Unfortunately, all he could do was try to continue until he found his way out, but instead he was met by a larger Imperial who stopped him in his tracks. The resplendent Imp offered to lead him out of the tunnels or further in to a 'warm bed' and meal. Of course, after coming this far FrostBite couldn't just turn back around, so he accepted the Imp's offer to a meal and followed him inside.

The twisted tunnels became much more simple with this stranger's guidance. No, not simpler but consistent. They no longer changed every time he looked behind himself and soon enough he was within The Laboratory... or more like a haven within the hoarfrost. Of course, he would frost over their little common area for his duration there, freeze over their pond, and generally make it less of a haven from the cold. Still, they welcomed him, fed him, and let him enjoy the company of many of those like himself- travelers who brought destruction and change on their wings wherever they went. He found out that its leader was able to twist the earth and its tunnels to his design, which explained the maddening journey into the cavern. Either way, he did meet others who brought the bitter cold wherever they went- none as well as he, of course- and others who would be able to melt through his power should they want to. No matter what... he couldn't imagine himself staying for long, so he prepared to move on.

The cold of the Southern Icefields followed him northward, into the temperate clime of Arcane. A familiar, perhaps it could be called- that inescapable chill biting into the bones of those who would harbor him for even an evening. A familiar... Yes, and a miserable companion it was.

The glass windows of the lodge he found himself guest of were frosted over by morning; the fire that roared in its common place barely seemed able to combat the winter's breath within and without the building.
If they had looked at him as the cause, they did not make it known. He was a guest, whether he brought ill weather or not.

FrostBite's time in Oxbow was long. The Light Domain's balmy warmth evened out his perpetual chill only slightly - just by being present, he plunged the city into the longest winter it had seen since its founding. Those were interesting times. The citizens had little time to prepare, no notice before FrostBite came knocking, but somehow they managed. Through the cold, the dragons helped each other, and no one was left out to freeze. In all his travels, FrostBite had rarely seen such an outpouring of goodwill. The kindness of the city even extended to him - an outsider, a stranger, an ominous, looming figure at the edge of town. They did not know he was the root cause of this winter, nor did FrostBite tell them. Though he felt sorry for the city's inhabitants, he wanted to experience his welcome just a bit longer - perhaps that's why he stayed, even though he knew his presence was sinking Oxbow deeper into the snow.

When Frostbite arrived at the district on the edge of Terraclae, summer was in full swing. His unpleasant "familiar" only brought daily mist at first. He stayed in a quaint little motel made of train cars; his room was comfortable enough, although he filled it with frost soon enough. He spent his days studying how dragons survived in a warm, arid land with few resources. It was so similar to the Icefield, yet it had its differences.

When the warm weather let up even the slightest bit, the mist he brought turned to drizzle. Dragonhome's thirsty ground drank up the moisture. Plants sprang to life: grasses grew from cracks and stones, and tiny flowers dotted many surfaces. It didn't last long -- after Thundercrack Carnivale festivities died down, bitter cold rain came, followed closely by daily sleet. The rain flooded a river that cut through the land down from the Breach Mountains, as well as subterranean rivers owned by Terrathorn Town, where he was staying.

Nobody knew he was causing the erratic weather, but Frostbite knew it was time to move on when he saw the damage his hail was causing. None of the buildings or dragons here were fit to survive in this new weather.
