This question has been haunting Steller all his life – a pretty long one even by draconic standards.
“Steller, are you sure you want to go there?”
“Steller, are you sure these paintings really are from pre-Arcanist era? If they’re not, we’ll lose our membership in the Science Guild…”
“Steller, are you sure you can do that?”
“Steller, are you sure it’s safe?”
Duh. Of course, he is! If he isn’t sure, he always says so, and just because he is unafraid doesn’t mean he’s stupid. Because hey, he’s really not – ask anyone, his predictions always come true.
After all, he hasn’t studied rituals for so many years in vain, and if you happen to ask the right questions…
…Ayumu smiles widely, showing sharp, hungry teeth.
“You seem to have an idea of what I am, as you do know how to ask properly. Why are you here then? Are you not afraid?”
Steller tilts his head and hums pensively.
“No, I don’t believe I should be frightened of you. I know that if the questions are worded properly and the certain rites are fulfilled, you will not have power over me. Rhyim seems to know it as well, doesn’t she?”
“She does.”
“And she is still alive, so I do believe we can work something out.”
Ayumu laughs, quietly and dangerously.
“You will get burned someday, Seeker of Knowledge. Oh, you will, and I will feast on your charred flesh with great pleasure.”
Steller hums again. Nods.
“Fine with me. If I’m dead already, I don’t think I would mind.”
Ayumu blinks. Laughs again, but this time it sounds softer, nearly pleasant.
“I’m starting to like you. Fine, you curious little mortal. Ask your question.”
