Biography

She was born into a newer clan that was getting powerful fast. They might not have had the biggest area, but they did have a powerful army, with which they aquired that land in the first place. She was born and almost immediately after birth discarded and orphaned. She survived on the streets for a long time, with little to eat, but enough to survive. She learned how to fight, how to defend herself fast because noone cared about her age there. Because of how fast the clan was growing, surrounded by older ones, but with less fighting strength, they became scared what would happen if they let them grow at such a fast rate. A war, where they would bound together to defeat the enemy, which would defeat any single one of them on their own was clearly on the horizon for anyone who actually watched out for the signs. Or had prior experiences to compare the situation to.

Tanya always had strong magic, to the point it streamed from her eyes, the excess, which did change their element over time. It started with Shadow, probably because of the darkness she lived in and had to deal with to survive. The streets really aren't a kind place. Different deitys blessing her or maybe her magic just reacting to her surroundings, that phenomenon. She was able to use some smaller spells without any help or training already, because of that. It helped with surviving as an otherwise defenseless baby, but she did hide it if it wasn't an extreme situation, never had any trust in any deitys because of how many things went wrong, didn't want to be associated with them if she could help it. The military wasn't able to predict that the war would come soon, but they noticed some kind of tension regardless of that, so they began to recruit new fighters for their army. If you wanted to fight as a front line soldier or anything that involves constantly being near the enemy with weapons or other ways of fighting, there was a minimum age so your body can take it. For mages? There wasn't one, they were normally long ranged fighters and it wasn't like the magic level evolved really with age, more with your training rather than anything else. They probably expected to at least have maybe any dragon close to maturity show up to sign up, not that tiny child showing an apparent blessing of a god, determined to not die on the streets and hopefully manage to get an education to get a cushy tactician job or anything else not at the battlefront. There wasn't anything they could've done, she was certainly within the requirements magic wise without any question.

She did sign up for the academy and was known there for her intelligence, magic power, the 'blessing' and being the smallest there. Magic itself seemed to bless her with the Arcane being the energy at the time that was easy to spot. She didn't have any problems studying or power wise during her time there, only a lot of times everything just being to big for her. Gave her problems with seats being build for larger dragons, otherwise flying generally helped. She was a bit manipulative to try and get herself a high spot at graduation, to have a better chance at getting her cushy job in the interior, but she did do it partly most of the time to help the other dragons and make sure they didn't die, especially the ones with a family. She did graduate as one of the top student and got the title Tanya von Degurechaff in honor of it. She was almost sent directly to the military college, but someone raised concerns about her mental state after siting how she treated other trainess(she might seem cold and heartless, but she really just wants everyone to be okay... And alive if possible. And if they can't take a slightly rough superior, how are they supposed to thrive and survive on the Battlefield, isn't like the enemy will care about your age and experience).

She was sent on her first mission, just patrolling the border. After all the studying it actually felt rather freeing for a short while, free as the wind. Finally able to just. Fly free. Noone expected her to actually have to fight, so she got a rather unusable weapon that was unnecessaryly fancy more for the moral of folks seeing someone actually there then actual fighting. And, of course, during that time the other Clan decided to attack them without any consideration into maybe asking the other ones from their side before hand. She came out of it victorious by wiping out the unit that was sent almost completely and alone, she literally blew herself up, but she did have some rather serious injuries afterwards.

And that's when they officially declared war, the other clans joining because while they didn't agree with the right now, they knew it would get worse when their ally would be defeated. The more they have on their side, the better. Their strategy was to overwhelm them from all sides. And Tanya got the highest badge of honor you could get there, the only living recipient ever, and became infamous as the child sent by God to help the clan to everyone gullible or in the know and to everyone else, probably just a propaganda figure. And it ended with exactly the opposite what she wanted, getting send to the front again and again.

She got a break before that for a rather short while were she was actually essentially a Propaganda figure, she had a life that while calm was a different kind of hell as getting dressed like a doll and having to pretend to be child loyal to the cause. She did share her pain with a fellow soldier, Visha, who became a loyal subordinate of her later. While she wasn't long there, the injuries didn't even heal completely, she got fed up with it enough to ask to get put somewereese and landed in the science devision. She was in this time rather close to Nature. One of the only times with completely intact nature, the Battlefield might've been beautiful at some point, but after a bit... In between there were occasionally forests though.

While still injured, she was send to a testing facility to upgrade the mage's weapon used to channel magic more efficiently by just trying new ways of building them and then trying them out, see if they work. She ended up meeting an insane scientist, Schugel, there that was brilliant, but he really wasn't that good about adhering to safety protocols. While she was there, he did end up inventing a way better version of the current model, but it was hard to control and you needed a large amount of magical energy to control and use it and a literal miracle so it didn't blow up on you, and he literally took out the emergency protocol. But Tanya never really believed in any God or Deity, because if any existed, taking the state of everything into account, they could just be the devil. Why else would they let innocents suffer and believers die while they call for their help. They might've been powerful, certainly something, but actual gods? Something divine? That's a lot more questionable. She did end up meeting some kind of being though at that point, when she was using the prototype. It introduced themselves as a deity, but she had her believes at that point set in stone and just straight up told them to face that with all the suffering, you can't be an all powerful deity, and if you actually are then only the devil. They were not happy with that, especially after blessing her. Isn't like she never asked for that. Tanya began to call them Being X, because that's what they were to her. Just some being. It did trigger some latent memories, just a vague feeling of familiarity, like she has done this or something simular already. She had been having the feeling of a deja vu several times during the war, especially how it's been going. They swore to her they would make her believe, and maybe another miracle would help with that? And that's how it happened that the only user that can use it without being a major danger to everyone around them was literally a tiny dragon child. She did prefer to use the next less powerful, but more stable version if the situation wasn't to completely hopeless otherwise.

Afterwards she was finally healed enough to get moved to another division, and one directly onto the Battlefield for awhile. Managed to become some kind of cryptid over the span of her battles, unassuming looking but very powerful. She was sent to the college rather soon as well and finally properly met the one who had doubts about her, Erich von Rerugen. Because of the persona both put on, they got extremely wrong impressions of each other. Tanya got a rather positive impression of him and thought he did understand her. Erich just thought of her as a patriotic war monger by the end of their talk. She did graduate fast and was sent back on the Battlefield soon after.

She was very successful there and got promoted fast to a high enough rank to properly lead her own group, and before long she got the mission to train her own subordinates to her standards. She tried during the recruitment to make the pitch as horrible as possible, so that noone joins and she just gets a bit of a vacation, but she approached it that to rationally, so it ended up being the perfect job for any war maniac. Honor as the only payment for living through all the suffering seems like a stupid exchange if you don't value that and your patriotism above all else. She ended up changing her plan from trying not to work on that and stay away from the battle, to train them well enough as that they, and in return she as well, had a higher chance of surviving. Her superior, Kurt von Rudersdorf, was a reasonable one, but he did think she wanted to be on the Battlefield very badly, because she played the role of the patriot. The training she put her subordinates through was brutal and they at some points thought she was trying to kill them, but she really just wanted them to have the best possible survival chances later. Somehow became even more known as this just kinda being that was sent by the deitys to save their clan. Only time she used the more powerful tool and the time she learned the consequences of it. Reason she had little memory of that time, Light itself seemed to bless her but it's one of her by far least favorite magic types because it reminds her of Being X.

After the training was over, she really had manged to make an elite regiment of Mage's in an extremely short time. They were sent pretty much immediately on their first mission, to defeat or at least hold a position of one of the clans that joined recently, a small one. And apperently with very little knowledge about anything magic related, because they had pretty much no defence against them. Mages before might've been nothing but a minor nuisance mainly used for spying, but now? If you're not prepared, you'd be dead very fast. If you didn't have air superiority or at least a fighting chance there it was easy to just blow everything up from above. And so her and her subordinates pretty much just by themselves defeated their whole army and blew up their weapon factory while they were already there. But they did do everything within the laws. It wasn't their fault that the hatchlings voice announcing their attack wasn't taken seriously.

And afterwards they were almost constantly on the Battlefield. She sometimes got problems with other soldiers she had to work with for a time not taking her seriously because of her age, but they learned better quickly.

There were a lot of things that just happened and evolved into jokes that they took a bit to seriously, as a way to cope with everything that was going on. And so their unofficial religion surrounding the shovel began, because it was useful to many times. It is her favorite weapon, a quiet weapon without magical residue to get tracked, able to knock someone out if you hit them in the head with the blunt site and being able to kill someone if you hit them hard enough in the throat with the sharper side. Or letting someone dig their own grave, if immediate or the trenches, when they begin disobeying and threating other lives by going against orders. They are really the pinicle of the evolution of weapons of the modern dragons. That opinion might come from the fact that it saved her life several times on the Battlefield. All of their joking around and planning this kinda thing did help to keep their sanity there. From what other weapons get holy status as well to literally praying to it rather then the deitys because the shovel would actually help.

She was on every single front and manged to get involved in pretty much every major mission that happened during the war. She became known as the devil on every Battlefield she was on, or a fallen angel from the people coming close enough to notice her eyes and come out alive, unkillable and merciless towards her enemies. To her allies, some called her an angel send by the deitys to save them and others she was a monster that defended it's territory. And with the hell this has become, they needed it. To this day it's unclear what the actual consensus is on what she actually was, everyone has their own theory and story's changing the element and Breed and everything rather distinctly, even if at least sometimes everyone involved in a battle could agree on some of this factors. But who the devil was will probably forever be a mystery to historians. If they don't find her own records she wrote down but how likely that is with everything that happened after the war? Not very certainly.

A front her magic adapted to rather quickly was the southern front, one that was just a desert. The Earth itself seemed to give her permission to be there, even blessed her. Why they were fighting there? Some dragons that escaped from a Lair that was at that point beaten stationed themselves down there and caused problems. She met someone who actually just judged her ability and not her age or anything else. He was probably one of the favorite people she met on the Battlefield, someone who was a joy to fight besides. Also befriended some critters while she was there. They were a cute bunch there, seemed to like her a lot. And gave a few of her fellow soldiers a heart attack when they noticed the snake that was just sitting on her arm. The chameleon never really showed itself though. Sadly they stayed in the desert afterwards but as far as she knew they lived good lifes. Same for the one that started as just a pleasant fellow soldier and became a dear friend. They spend many sleepless nights watching the stars and lights of magic light up the dark night sky from their surprisingly good headquarters. For the fact they were build very quickly they were more comfortable then quite a few ones that had more time put into them. Wouldn't even be really noticeable that it was build for the violence that had a decent chance to happen there. Glass ready to withstand quite a bit, everything built in a way to give the ones defending an advantage against any attacker, how easy it was to monitor it in case of an attack. She was rather sad when she got ordered to go to another front. Even if the difference of comfort would only be really noticed when she reached the other front. Somehow though being closer to the main parts, their supplys were a lot more limited. Land made it hard to actually transport it there.

That front her magic adapted to as well, the Eastern front, a frozen wasteland for miles after the fights that already happened there. Her magic became icy and snowflakes began to fall from her eyes. She befriended a few birds there and ended up using some more weird weapons with chains made of ice, icy claws and other weirdly pretty weapons because supply became a problem to actually get there for the Clan. So they needed to get creative with what they did have. At one point, close to her actually arriving there, they attacked the main point of the clan there,in a rather spectacular manner, and she met a very uncomfortable to be around individual, high up in the ranking his name was Loria and he was high enough up to be able to ignore common sense in regards to laws. He became interested in her. Her subordinate she shared her propaganda days with did end up killing him at her first chance and the rest of the members there didn't seem sad. Seems like they only did nothing because they were scared of the consequences. It was way to cold but they did survive that front with keeping each other warm and a lot of magic. This was about the time though when her own clan began to actually show the toll the war was taking on them. There were several highly risky missions she went on.

There were several other interesting incidents that happened during the war, from mages getting seen as that much more dangerous because of the example she and her group set, which lead to some actually getting better lives on the enemy's side because befire this they were seen as enemy's in some clans and then they became to useful to ignore the ideology that was followed before, to some famous attacks towards anyone who underestimated them, to some very interesting events that sometimes involved burning villages and locations to the ground barely within the code everyone went by, to some very interesting interactions, especially between enemy's, when neither could do much beyond talking. And every single time she told the ones actually doing the large scale decision making to do something and they didn't do it and that massively backfired, mainly with enemy's coming back to make problems.

Another rather note worthy incident was when she met Moran, her second in command then and now mate, noone knows if it was convenience or any love, but that's something that'll never get found out probably. Convenience is the farther accepted theory though. Seemed more in line with their personalitys.

Got a good sword as a gift for the mating, one not showing the blood that was spilled with it because of the chosen color, which was rather convent and did look nice. Because most of the weapons they got for some reason where just white. Another thing making the competence of the higher ups highly questionable. Wasn't like there was every really any hope except a very few exceptions. In one fight someone managed to get a good hit in on her eyes, probably trying to blind her, but she still was able to see afterwards even if it wasn't treated for a rather long while because of the horrible conditions that were on the Battlefield, probably because her eyes rather then getting destroyed just started looking like the ones of the dragons blessed by Plague. Uncomfortable to look at but they functioned.

After years and years of fighting, her clan was beginning to get overwhelmed. They could've ended the war several times, if they had just listened to her and just accepted to end it without coming out with new land or other things, but they were to greedy, and now regardless of how well her unit was, there were just to many enemies. Her last fight left her burning with the disappointment that it would be over soon, ending in a way that would most likely end badly for her. It did reignite a passion she had at the beginning to get it over with, at some points she was close to just giving up but she fought on. Because with her reputation? She wouldn't survive if they got utterly defeated. The Fire was burning in her eyes when she was sent back to the capital for what was supposed to be a short while before getting back on the Battlefield. She did end up having a rather eye opening conversation with Erich, when they believed they were just waiting in the heart of the country for the enemys to arrive and kill them, with their actual opinions, feelings and just complete honesty. The misunderstandings about each others character really took awhile to finally clear up. They found out a lot about how simular they actually where there and just decided to give up, not fight for the clan they didn't feel the need to protect, and just get away. They ended up taking a few friends and other associates like Moran,Schugel,Kurt, Romel and others with them on their way out and just got away, as far as was needed so that they haven't heard of or at least wouldn't recognize the devil. Taking into account she noticed Being X being there for a long time it was probably his fault that it took awhile to get to the end of the war and the journey.

During her time searching her eyes seemed to change again. Going from the deseased look they had before they began flowing with Water, flowing freely. Fit with her finally having actual freedom. She got an outfit as well which hid most of her to make sure she didn't get recognized and her weapon of choice became as small as possible with a knife, tucked away in her boot. She never was really sure how recognizable she was with all the different rumors, because while she was famous noone from her side wanted to talk about the fact the most feared Warrior was a hatchling for a good part of the war and the other side didn't seem to ever get an actual reading and description of her. Only of her ability they had a general one. And literally made a group specially against hers. An honor in a way, wasn't it? They didn't have the chance to ask much to confirm if she would've been recognized nearby because the moment someone began talking about her, all of the times pretty much badly, they had to go before one of her friends started a fight to defend her or began talking about things that might lead to them getting recognized.

They had to look for a rather long time, but they did end up finding this Clan and the cat, that seemed wise beyond anything a feline should be able to be with their rather short life spans, took them in as her children and protected them. Her eyes began Crackling with Lightning, finally actually free from all the pain. Some other cats and a dog did join the council who are technically the leaders here.

There were mysterious occurrences of what seemed to be other versions of her just appearing, looking completely different and while character wise very simular, they were all. Younger. They did just get accepted into the family but no ones to this day sure how this happened exactly. The Tanya's™ do think Being X is to blame though, but they aren't sure. It did happen with a few other dragons as well. At least these probably alternate time line versions had less pain to live through, having been taken away befire they were able to go through all of it. They're happy here.

They did end up adopting a lot of other dragons and other beings. She might not fight often anymore, because she finally has her calm life, but if you threaten her calm life? Your funeral.

She's calm and comes off as a very cold individual that cares little for others lifes, but she's just still used to the mentally of that is better then them ending up weak and dying. She's slowly opening up and showing her interest in all the logistics of running a clan, from food to transportation and other things. She still has a sword by her side, because she needs a weapon to feel save, because it never was and having something to defend herself with makes her calmer. Paranoia stemming from the Battlefield, losing friends or even just fellow fighters isn't something easily forgotten.

She ended with 2 crows that at some point just decided they liked her and just stayed. Her outfit was a gift, the flowers and just being decoration without the need to be useful being a grounding reminder that it's safer now. She's the 2nd in command in this Lair and runs the side she prefers, the logistical one. She ended up with a very derpy cat and her Mate following her around, Spleens and Tonsils, and they decided to stay by her side for unknown reasons. Maybe they sense her still not fully healed psyche from the years and want to comfort her. Who knows?
