XipeTotec's creation lore from me A single drop was all it took. From the creation gods above, one drop of blood hit the fertile earth. The earth, once the body of a monstrous beast. It would devour anything to walk upon its mass. Anything to set foot on it in seconds would fall into a massive crack full of teeth and bone. The gods became frustrated with it as it kept eating their creations. And so one god Tezcatlipoca decided to make a sacrifice to satiate the beasts hunger. A limb, cleaved cleanly off and into the beasts many mouths. It fell a long distance but didn't even make a sound as it disappeared into the monsters waiting maw. Its body rumbled before it soon stilled as the cracks in the earth started to close. The body of the beast was now ripe for life to spread apon it. Though the blood from the god was still flowing from Tezcatlipoca wound. It splattered the ground in many places. As soon as it touched the earth many things grew. Plants and animals quickly took over the barren land. The beasts thriving within the plentiful world now in front of them. But with the final drop that hit the earth something more powerful was created. A god sprouting from the plagued lands. One of the first of her kind a deadly carnivore. XipeTotec pulled herself from the ground that clutched; Her body weak but that was only temporary. She would find food. Blood was plentiful in this world. Lore from Tobin Equinox - A XipeTotec story The gladiator was handed his weapon, of bone and snakeskin and gold-hued feathers from the eagles that Xipe Totec had been given in sacrifice. Their body grew stronger by the day as the spring equinox grew closer, their claws sharpening and glistening like the gilded adornments given in tribute. The god watched over the arena as the gladiator was bound to the central stone of the arena, his leg tied with chains of white cloth and silver thread. They would not disappoint her, the gladiator was strong. In the last war, he'd been captured. The last remaining foe, as he fought off man after man until the god's chosen warriors had captured him. She'd given the sign herself for capture, he was worthy of a chance. A chance at victory. Two of her warriors dressed in furs, two dressed in feathers, and a fifth, cursed at birth, would be his foes. He was down a leg and given a weapon without an edge, but he was fearless and she knew his heart had victory behind every beat. Her warriors too confident, she'd provided too much. Her flesh, blood, and bone given to them had given too much. They were taught a lesson, this day. As the gladiator fended them off, waiting for their blows to render them exhausted. He knew the club he'd been handed was better as a shield than a weapon, the warrior's weapons blunted and broken before they hit him. She watched at rapt attention as the gladiator tore their weapons from them, keeping his ceremonial weapon aloft as a barrier as he leveled his foes one by one. He was chosen, of her own court now. The gladiator fell with the rest, an exhausted man among the dead, an exalted warrior among the fallen. From their blood sprung water for her chosen people, from their bones grew new trees of hardwood for their weapons, from their flesh grew crops to get them through the last of winter. The gladiator, Xipe Totec drew from the earth to give to her priests. They would care for him, give him a cloak of red-feathers and a new name, and he would be a warrior for her yet, one who'd earned his place. Provider - A XipeTotec Story The challenger was foolish to think he could fight a goddess, as he came brandishing a club and dressed in heretical mockery: feathers and gold chains as though he thought he could replace her. Xipe Totec would teach him a lesson, the lesson that all her foes learned. No mortal could challenge a goddess, and no mortal could survive her fury. His blood would join the earth; his body would join thousands of others on the piles of slain foes. He swung too hard, too early, too recklessly to ever have a hope of hitting the swift-footed and sharp-witted goddess as she let him wear himself thin on his efforts. His muscles soon gave as he lunged towards her, enraged by his own failures, his own mortal frailty. Xipe Totec took advantage as he fell, striking him when he fell there upon the earth before her, her claws raking the life from his bones and heartbeat from his chest. He could not fight her. He was not worthy. Her warriors bayed and barked and cheered for the bloodshed the goddess wrought, her priests and priestesses scrambling to get the corpse of the unworthy out of her sight. They took the challenger from her view, undeserving of her gaze even in death. His blood spilled upon the earth on the path they took as Xipe Totec forth the rains that would replenish their cisterns and sustain their crops. Her priests burned his bones as the maize grew tall and strong to feed her warriors and last them through winter. Her priestesses turned his flesh into ash as the wind blew it from her temple unto the stone-fruit trees where she would bring forth mango, peach, and papaya to her beloved and their faithful. Xipe Totec provided violence, Xipe Totec provided water, Xipe Totec provided for all those who knew their place beneath her. |
