CLOUD...
"I follow the wind just like those clouds..."

"Oh dear, this is vexing"

These words came from Cloud's parents shortly after he hatched. A fluffy, Ice coloured Tundra made his way out of an egg, his fiery eyes a stark contrast to his appearance. Surely, the Ashfall Wastes weren't the right place for a warm coated tundra to be born. His parents were at a loss... This offspring would need a lot of shaving in the future.

Have you ever seen a shaved Tundra? Well, it’s no surprise that Cloud received a lot of bullying while growing up. His stress increased until one day he ran off in a hurry, arriving at the Zephyr Steppes... and what a place that was! All his worries were carried away by the cooling breeze and green surroundings. He stayed there for many years.

He aimlessly wandered the Plateau, re-building his confidence and self-esteem that was weakened during his childhood. His life experiences grew and he discovered that deep within him, he had aspirations. These weren't the grand aspirations that some people might expect; in fact they were quite vague. He wanted to create his own place in the world, while still seeing new people and exciting cultures. As he thought of this, he made his way into a sea side port.

The area was filled with merchants, travellers and sailors. He caught the ear of one sailor in particular, Captain Ouranos, who said that his clan was building a large trading station in the Southern Icefields. The construction was well underway and it would be opening next winter. Cloud was intrigued, and wondered what the life of a merchant would be like. Wouldn't he be able to meet many people, and still have his own little place to call home? Yes.

What was that? Cloud stopped his daydreaming and focused on the conversation again. The captain just mentioned that this trade station was seeking more personnel. He was more personnel! Cloud made a decision that would change his life. He asked to go with Ouranos' crew to their new trading hub, so that he could embark on a new chapter in his life.

The station was still a year away from completion. During that time, Cloud thought hard about how he wanted to shape his life there. He asked the leader of the clan, Arkantos, for some advice. Arkantos replied that he would make anything Cloud wanted into a reality. This deeply touched his heart.

After a lot of thought, he surprised himself by decided to open his very own business. This immediately went into the station's blueprints, and Cloud busied himself for the next several months to learn his new craft.

A RECORD OF A TUNDRA'S JOURNEY...

Day 1: I boarded Captain Ouranos’ ship today; the Noble Slushie Maker. I haven’t been feeling well since we left port. Maybe I made this decision too quickly, this is a big commitment. My stomach is flipping out on me. Or I could be seasick... The bobbing waves make everything worse.

Day 3: I’m definitely seasick. Oh deities... it just doesn’t stop.

Day 7: The air is colder and we still haven’t even reached the ice yet. My breath becomes mist. For once, I am actually pleased with my warm coated body. I can see why Tundras thrive in these temperatures. Ouranos and his crew are donning heavier clothes.

Day 12: We finally arrived at the Southern Icefields. We lost a day of travel to a pod of Cloud Chasers. Even though they’re named like me, I have no love for them. These dolphin type creatures rammed our ship without rest. We were sent off course at least a dozen times yesterday. My new clan is on the coast closest to the Windswept Plateau, I’m so glad we didn’t have further to sail.

There once was a dragon named Cloud
"A new lair I must find!" he avowed.
There I'll change to a breed
Where less grooming I'll need
And my toes will become claw endowed!

Day 14: Today was overwhelming. The ice and snow continue endlessly in this land. It’s intimidating, but at the same time I can’t take my eyes off it. My new home, the Southern Skyway clan, welcomed me in a way that I’ve never experienced before. As a seasoned traveler, I’ve been treated with suspicion almost everywhere I went, but these people embraced me and even gave me gifts to remember the occasion.

Day 15: I looked at my presents today, I was too worn out from the welcoming celebration yesterday. I'm blown away. They gave me, the newcomer, a Wildclaw scroll. It’s so incredibly rare! I hesitated for a few hours, but then I thought back to my childhood bullying. This is a new start for me, so I decided to go ‘all in’ and fully transition to my new life here. Damn, I look good.

Day 16: Holy deities!!! It’s cold here. Like, really cold. Without my Tundra coat, I can certainly feel the chill. I guess that's is why they gave me this Will ‘o the Ember when I first arrived. I wish I had noticed these beautiful, warm floating flames last night!

Day 21: I was talking with Arkantos today. He wants to support me anyway he can. I don't know why I deserve to be treated so well, but he is putting everything at my clawtips. My future is mine to choose...

Day 29: I’ve come to a decision about my role here. Talking to my new clan members gave me a lot of inspiration. I smile every time I think about my choice. I will open a place for weary dragons to warm themselves. I will open Cloudscape Cafe.

SOUTHERN SKYWAY
RESPITE AND TRADE STATION

The clan has been living in the Southern Icefields for several years now. A large respite station has been opened to coincide with the clan progenitor's fourth birthday. It is located on the north-eastern coast of the Southern Icefields.

CLOUDSCAPE CAFE

The Southern Skyway [Respite and Trade Station] is located within a snowy Cloudscrape Crag on the coast of the Icefields. The altitude here is quite high, and the top level of the station is just above the clouds. It is perfect for the proprietor of the shop who always loves to watch these clouds as they float through the nearby mountain peaks.

The cafe takes up a large area due to its popularity, and it is divided into both inside and outside sections.

Cloud keeps the inside warm for his traveling patrons by distributing Will ‘o the Embers around key places in the seating area. His customers have traveled far in the frigid climate, and welcome this chance to relax in the warmth. Cloud is good friends with Krychek, who runs the library next door. The cafe visitors will often read a book while drinking their tea and coffee.

On an adjacent wall from the cafe's counter is this mandala, painted onto the stone. The bright and lively colours attract the customers eyes, making them feel as though it's radiating a subtle heat. It's almost a stark contrast to the icy scenery outside, yet not an unpleasant one. This mandala receives many compliments from the visiting dragons.

The cafe’s interior opens onto a large patio which is barely sheltered from the snow. It’s much colder out here, and an icy wind blows at times. Regardless of this, a lot of dragons brave the chill to admire the scenery.

These dragons they are no strangers to flying above the clouds. It’s just that there is something extremely different about these clouds. Using a light refraction system that Cloud commissioned from Minotaur, he sends out a multiphasic beam of prismatic light into the cumulus clouds below. The result is a stunningly gorgeous display along the horizon, which easily mesmerizes his customers. Cloud calls it his own "Aurora Cloudscape."

Cloud was gifted an adorable plush doll of himself when he opened Cloudscape Cafe. His friend Kkarma sent it to him and it’s become something of a mascot in the shop. Seeing it everyday warms his heart, and he puts that warmth towards serving his customers.
