“My candle burns at both ends, It will not last the night. But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends—It gives a lovely light!” _ |
Once a merchant and a pirate, Sparkler has a keen eye for value. With her agile mind and swift, iron grasp she's a shrewd haggler who uses her young age and sickly appearance to turn a profit.
The coatl knows little of her origins. According to the stories, she became the lone survivor of a small cargo ship. Her parents had braved the seas during the notorious churnscar raids and were forced to bargain her life in exchange for the glittering cargo.
As a result, she spend her youth trying to prove her worth. Through hard work, she became a skilled deckhand, passable navigator and shrewd treasurer, further earning her keep with a quick mind, sharp tongue and skilled flame-manipulation. The last vicious trait caused the demise of many ships and earned her the name "Sparker", a monniker she remains fiercely proud of.
It was also in these hatchling years that she earned her many scars, one of which runs across her jaw and it left her with a sharper hiss and a difficulty in pronouncing l's and r's.
Less than a year before her coming-of-age, most of her crew succumbed to a bad case of sea-pox and food poisoning. With a smaller team, they were soon routed out and judged. Her clever words lightened their sentence and all were assigned community work to serve in the clans that their piracy harmed.
Although Sparker planned to leave as soon as permittled, she fell in love with the clattering of mottled pebble beachches that rose from the wild wetland sea, became used to the smell of rustled leaves on a salty seabreeze. On top of that, the teahouse was friendly and appreciative in an entirely foreign way. For the first time in her young life, the coatl discoverd the warmth brought by a true family, an acceptance and love without the buts and ifs. There was peace in her heart because she was perfect as she was, seen by these dragons and so she saw with a lighter heart and all was brighter for it.
In time, Sparker took up the teahouse treasurer position. She had grown complacent and sought to sharpen her mind with that of shrewd merchant, eccentric traders and powerful 'clients'. The teahouse grew prosperous under her care. It wasn't long before she became notorious for her quick coin and nimble thinking at both the crossroads and auction house. Considering her accent, it is no surprise that these dragons knew her as "Sparkler", a name she took an inmediate liking to.
Keeps track of the treasure, gems and all that occupies the Teahouse hoard and sends out proxies to flip items on the realm-wide market. When neccesary she assigns dragons on "retrieval missions" to aquire any missing items. These are primarly used to create functional quarters in the Hibernal den, to maintain the teahouse business and day-to-day life and on the rare occasion, to negotiate land and real-estate contracts with nearby (beast)clans.
