Biography

When Amory and Sunscream first dug out the muddy burrow that would eventually be expanded into the clan's labyrinthian lair, they were only thinking of their own offspring, soon to be hatched. Then came Bernadette, then several more orphaned hatchlings, in need of a home and someone to love them. Next came the wanderers and the drifters, each with their own dreams and woes, looking for a place to call home. They were drawn to the humble little lair in the driftwood drag like miths to a glowshroom, and with their own unique talents, each helped to slowly shape it into something more than a mere hole in the dirt.

It was around then that Amory realised she had so much more to care about than her own precious hatchlings. The dragons she had met and the friendships she had forged over those first few weeks felt more valuable to her than any treasure, and she had a feeling deep in her marrow that this fledgling clan could become something great. But with so many big personalities coming from all different walks of life, she could also see them letting their differences turning them apart, and this wonderful clan they'd put their heart and souls into would sink back into the mud like so much driftwood.

She could not allow this to transpire. And so, Amory found her calling. She would take on her clanmate's burdens as if they were her own, and would do her best to provide whatever was needed to solved their dilemmas, be it something simple as a friendly ear to vent to or something more complicated. She would not be a clan leader, at least not in the traditional sense, but she would be a hugely important guiding figure in its development. And though the clan grows and fills with all sorts of dragons of varying disposition, you would be hard pressed to find one who doesn't hold a great deal of love and respect for denmother Amory in their heart. And Amory loves them all back, each and every one.

----

Amory is calm and warm, both literally and figuratively, as hatchlings and smaller dragons use her luxurious mane as a toasty nap spot during the chillier months. She is far from talkative; when she has nothing to say she says nothing at all, and as someone who prefers to listen rather than speak, this means she can sometimes go long stretches of time without vocalising beyond the odd affirmative or sympathetic grunt. She is a truly excellent listener, and there is just something about her that compels even the most standoffish dragons to relax and lay whatever's been troubling them lately upon her attentive ears. She will nod and listen in near silence, only providing advice or feedback when directly prompted. Her clanmates know they can trust her not to break confidentiality, and those leaving her company are usually significantly more cheerful and less stressed than before. It is for these reasons that Amory is almost certainly the most universally liked and well regarded dragon in the clan.

Being a supportive figure for so many dragons does not come without its tolls though. Amory is single-minded in her desire to support her family, sometimes to the detriment of her own wellbeing. Though she is always ready to listen, when it comes to acting on her desire to help everyone, Amory can sometimes feel helpless. So many of her clanmates come to to her with struggles and woes too complicated for one dragon to resolve by themselves, but that won't stop her from trying. When she can't ease somebody's burden, it eats away at her. She will spend hours, days even, sitting and musing over other's dilemmas while neglecting her own mental and physical health. Sometimes her mate Sunscream has to bring her food, as she forgets to eat. After noticing this pattern, some of the other dragons have taken to lovingly but firmly reminding Amory that she does not have to solve every dilemma all by herself, and that the clan will always support her just as she supports all of them. And she listens to them... sometimes.

In her free time, Amory enjoys laidback pursuits, such as rolling around in freshly turned soil, napping on the cool grass, and birdwatching. She is one of the clan's dedicated foragers, and she takes great joy in rummaging through the undergrowth with her familiar, Rutelage.
