They grow up speaking the language of the trees and growing into one themselves.

Benign notes played on the lute are a joy during a cloudy day or of hours gripping the mind with heavy fog. You take care to listen to recognize the melody, tracking the source to an angel lounging in a sturdy tree on a branch many meters above the ground. They care not who shuffles in and out of attending their performance. They captivate you for hours before you finally speak to one another. You ask what song they're playing.
The angel ponders this question for a moment before opening their eyes and glancing down at you. "Divine Melody #34, they call it." They continue plucking at the strings.
You ask them how many melodies there are.
"Near two hundred," they say.
Do you know them all?
"Yes."
When the melody has morphed into another score, and to another score, and another after that, you decide that it is getting late, and you say farewell before heading home.
"I will write another melody to add to the line-up," they say, with your back to the path as you retrace your steps to leave the forest before it claims you. "One about the smell of tea leaves and the color of your eyes. About sunset and sunrise and carefree growth. I will never forget you."
