Aulon

Aulon does not have an ounce of magic talent. Okay, maybe an ounce. He can levitate a rock three inches into the air. What he lacks in talent, he makes up for in studiousness, passion, and eccentricity. He uses his minimal magic talent to identify different rocks and find sites of interest.

Aulon has memorized much of the recorded history of Sornieth, and he is an expert in the entire geologic history of the Windswept Plateau and the Ashfall Waste. He's been to many archaeological digs in the Sunbeam Ruins and Dragonhome (although he's quiet about his most recent dig there). He's looking forward to an excavation near a new portal in the Sunbeam Ruins - once the emperor problem has been sorted out, of course.

Students will often ask Aulon about history rather than try to coax a book out of Ceruline's hands. Many a student paper cites a conversation or five with Aulon. The downside of asking him is that if you ask even the smallest question, you will need to set aside five hours to let him finish a story to answer it.

Aulon, of course, participated in the Dustcarve Dig. He went to explore a tunnel on day 2 and has not been seen since. A colleague found his toolbag near the entrance to the tunnel.
