Bursts of colorful light flash from the temple library and training grounds as the archmage practices her spells and studies her tomes, powerful magic flickering like fire from the tips of her claws and bursting from her parted maw. Dusty scrolls that’ve lain otherwise untouched for unknown decades sit scattered across the tables and floors, illuminated by candles and the eyes of fire that peer from above to memorize each word painted in ink. Students of all Flights and territories come to study the Skydancer’s methods and admire her skills with awe spread across their features, pleading for apprenticeships and offering riches in exchange of knowledge and training. She always refuses, the great archmage of Roshan, for the last thing she would want is to condemn another soul to the life she has come to resent. "The temple's knowledge offers power," she tells them with a snarl, "yet curses all who dare to claim it." Born into an influential family that has long lived beneath Prophet’s rule, Aida has never been without the suffocation that comes with being one of the Pearlcatcher’s prized followers. Always there've been eyes following her every move, always there has been a hand poised above her head and prepared to strike should she stray from the line of expectations lain out when she was a child. She finds comfort in her practice, spending countless hours in the temple with her beak buried in the parchments and journals of past sorcerers. There is freedom in the magic that pulses from her outstretched palm and warmth in the enchantments that glow within her altered jewelry. The power may have led her to damnation, yet it has also given her purpose. |
