"Did you ever regretted the path you choose?" Ima was taken aback by the question, the waves below them roars loudly, the sun casting a warm glow on both of them. The fresh trainees sitting on mountain's edge, resting from hours of sparring as they take in the evening air.

In truth, she was, everyday she asked herself was it worth it? the blood, sweat and tears. Was she a good dragon anymore? for the blood spilled on her paws, staining her thick fur, seeing beastsclan enemies cower at her presence. The smell of rotting corpse ingrained in her brain forever. She dreads the day she'll leave her home, alone, waiting for the nightmare to haunt her to insanity.

"...I'd rather not think about it

RELATIONSHIPS
59039964.png Cocomire
Close Friend/Charge

Coco has been with Ima since she first arrived, she is most understanding of her and is supporting of Ima. Ima looks up to Coco, though a bit envious that Coco is more in-tune with her emotions than she is, they are extremely close and often turn into each other if life gets too hard on them.
Nymstryx
Friend

Nymstrx meet Ima the same time she met Cocomire, Though Ima rarely sees him since he prefers to live alone in Domain of the Gladekeeper, which means They sent letters a lot. Ima and Nyms bicker quite a lot but never of it is with malice. Nymstryx is practically an older brother to her.

***Ima was used to the rigors of training. Far too many desired the same strength she had, and far too many failed on that journey. Serious injury was the most common, sheer bad luck striking down even those who began to approach Ima’s skill. Was it disheartening to lose her disciples? Yes. Many more clamored for their place, so eager to take the same gamble. A numbness slowly formed in her mind, a part of her that began to wonder how long until her charges died.

***Time, and trainees, passed quickly. She began to wonder how her grandmother managed not only training, but training her children. Perhaps their blood was strong. Or maybe her grandmother held skills Ima did not possess. With the end of the season and her students, Ima had enough time to visit Vitali. She could even catch up with some relatives or meet her newest ones.

Vitali’s clan was bustling. There was an air of peace and tranquility even as dozens of visiting descendants bustled about. There were only cheery greetings, offers of food, and many questions about Ima’s health. It was a second home, all centered around Vitali.
Her grandmother appeared busy with a large basket, carefully arranging and adjusting blankets. She flinched when she turned her head enough to see Ima in the corner of her eye, a hand jerking up between Ima and the basker for a long second. “Ah, hello, I’m sorry I didn’t notice you sooner,” She began, a great smile leaping to her face, “You’re Ima, yes? It’s been a while, how about we get something to eat?”

The basket, curiously, came with them. It quickly entered the back of Ima’s mind as she talked to Vitali about her newest relatives and the training regimens they needed. The peeping of hatchlings didn’t even phase Ima, it was a given with the size of the lair. They did sound close, though, and very insistent, until she was rendered speechless when the cover was pulled away and exposed the source of the noise.

The hatchlings couldn’t be more than a few hours old, their eyes were squinted to narrow slits and their bodies shivered from the effort needed to lift their heads. They chirped louder when the cover was removed, not even quieting when Vitali carefully fed them one by one.

“Forgive me, they were brought in this morning. I’ve been having trouble finding them a home. Your nieces and cousins all have charges or have problems hatchlings will only add to,” her grandmother’s voice was raised, Ima barely able to make it out over the cacophony.
“I’m sure someone will take them. I’ve never raised hatchlings, let alone such young ones.” Ima was quick to dismiss the possibility, she was only used to adults and rarely interacted with her younger clansmates.

She left the next morning with a cheeping basket.

Ima was a fair bit out of her comfort level, having to attend to the hatchlings every hour or so. They seemed a bit more steady today, and the fact made Ima’s core radiate warmth and pride. Her rational mind screamed at her that this was a bad idea, but the more primal part of her soul overpowered it by sheer emotion. The moment Vitali let her feed the little dragons she was attached. She could afford a few months of idleness while they grew.
The routine was deceptively simple. They ate when they were hungry, at a pace that kept Ima up at night, and grew larger by the day. Soon they were steady and alert, trailing by her feet and trying to speak. By the end of the week they needed names, since they could say hers just fine. They also mirrored her, trying to clumsily mimic the stretches and repetitive actions of her training.
The pastel pink boy was named Verigost, the lone girl Oneida. And the Obelisk, larger and heavier than the rest, became Lorn.

Now that they had names, they could be trained, the back of Ima’s mind mused, they’re from the same stock as you. What could go wrong?

***Ima was used to apathy, to push one harder so they could overcome their struggles. That would not work on hatchlings. She simply never nurtured before, and that realization settled in her stomach and soured. Verigost’s crying was ringing in her ears as she carefully tended to a bruise. Lorn’s weight and size was something he wasn’t used to, a simple bump was enough to send his sibling to the floor.

She couldn’t chastise them, they didn’t know better. Her two other children were huddled next to her as she treated Verigost, Ima praying they didn’t pick up on her nerves. Incidents like this didn’t happen with adults; it was a reminder of how far she was from her comfort zone. The tears dried quickly, though, and Verigost was eager to playfully get back at Lorn. The calm spread slowly, Ima slowly letting out a breath.
When did she start calling those three her children? It seemed natural, she had raised them, and now they sought to follow her footsteps. It was terrifying for them both-- Ima never dealt with such small and precious lives, and the three children never experienced the burn of overexertion.

They thrived, though, striving their best to impress her. And in turn, Ima had all sorts of new emotions to deal with, so many highs and lows that came with caring for her newfound children. She had time to reflect on her past apprentices, prepare for when these three would take on those same rigors. She feared that, for the first time in a while, but that only served to steel her determination. She wouldn’t lose these three. They were her own blood now, she wouldn’t have the past repeat itself again.

Ima looked around, her friends close by, and let out a sigh. “It’s just… I don’t seem to feel attraction to anyone, and I just… I just don’t know how it will affect the kids, you know?”

Nymstryx looked at her, bemusedly confused. “Whatever do you mean by that, Ima? Your hatchlings are doing great.”

“I mean,” Ima began, looking back down at the floor, “All the other hatchlings have a… a normal family, with two parents to help them, not one by herself who can barely stop herself from hurting them during training, and I just want the best for them, but I don’t know if that’s something I can give on my own.”

Ardens placed her claws on each of Ima’s shoulders, balancing a bit precariously on her perch. “Ima, don’t be ridiculous. You’re a wonderful mother, and you don’t need anyone’s help. You’re doing great as you are. If you want help, or you think you need it, just ask, and we’ll help, or someone else will. You’re the best parent you’ve ever met, even on your own, and your hatchlings are little delights who are coming along better than quite a few I can think of who have two parents.”

Ima looked up, an odd look in her eye. “You’re right Arden. You usually are.”

“That’s the truest thing you’ve said this whole time,” said Arden with a chuckle.

The next day, as Ima was wandering about the clan, trying to work out her feelings on her own, she met a dragon named Omito. A former father himself, he was more than willing to help her raise her kids, platonically of course, as he was still hurting from the loss of his first hatchlings and mate.
