Biography
The Wandering Contagion, true to its name, is never at rest. You could never mistake it for the Starwood Strand or Foxfire Bramble, even as they might shift or change. No, the Scarred Wasteland is characterized by its movement, the landscape slowly seething and shifting like a terrible sea, as if the earth itself was alive.
Its hardened inhabitants know this wandering nature as wisdom, a constant reminder that all things will change, and all things will end, particularly if one is left to fester for too long. Few trees survive it; if not overgrown by rot, their dead wood is a commodity for those who dare to establish civilization in these harsh badlands, leaving the land rootless and bare.
Yet here you stand, facing a pestilent forest, standing tall and seemingly immovable. Indeed, trees mark its outline, but they are not alone; protruding from the earth, gigantic bones of bygone eras reach towards the skies, and enormous mushrooms and fungal growth complete the forest canopy beneath their caps. The smorgasbord creates a vile picture as its pestilence grows and festers, a dance of life and death in imperceptibly slow motion.
In some places, the corpses of ancient beasts have been completely overgrown; opportunistic flora has grown into impassable walls and ceilings that even seem to resist dragon fire. All manner of deadly plant life - mosses and lichens, creeping vines, flowering blooms as toxic as they are beautiful - find their homes in this macabre graveyard, ancient skulls and curved ribs that tower over you becoming the de-facto trunks of never-before-seen trees.
Stranger still, the rumors of fauna and phantasma ring true. Tales abound of its great and terrible beasts, of the cunning few who manage to make it their home, of dragons who wandered too long and were cursed to continue their fruitless journey. A lantern swings in the distance, a ghostly wail echoes in the back of your mind, and creatures of all sizes dart between the foliage in hiding.
This alien landscape is unlike anything you've encountered in the Scarred Wasteland, let alone Sornieth, full of life yet just as hostile as the barrens. The Seedscar is a monument of the Gladekeeper's nature, but here lies a new form of botanical presence, antithetical to the stories told of the Plaguebringer's legendary rot. Yet, here it holds; as if they listened to the death-mother's very words, new growth now springs forth from the remains of those that came before them.

THE MASQUE
Once you find yourself inside, it may be difficult to believe how such a massive cavern would be concealed underground. Emerging from one of many tunnels, you would find yourself in a central room, the kind of which echoes the bustle of activity. Ramshackle staircases are carved from the earth for those without flight, and dotting the paths are a variety of shops, booths, and even an inn.
While the entrance was quite large, smaller tunnels lead to more specialized areas; rooms small enough for Fae and Veilspun dragons to comfortably coexist, with equally small amenities.
THE ABYSS
Deeper, darker, tunnels open into great chasms beneath the earth, as if the living earth had opened its great mouths to consume any foolish creature that dare to approach.
