the jungle cat

his entire life, panthero felt as if something was wrong. he had been born a coatl, with a gorgeous silky orange coat and glistening feathered wings. by all accounts, he was a beautiful dragon. he never wanted for attention from the ladies, and even fathered a few hatchlings. but the feeling never left. he had everything he could desire, but it wasn't enough. he wasn't happy with himself.

panthero had always wanted to be a jungle cat. he knew deep down in his heart, that is who he was meant to be. he tried to ignore it, suppress it, deny it. it wasn't normal. others would reject him for it. one day, he awoke, and he knew something had to change. he couldn't live another day like this. no matter the cost, he would become who he truly was.

with the help of a dragon with great magical powers, he was able to alter his appearance, painting striking black swathes, alternating spots and stripes, onto his beautiful orange coat. his heart had been so full of joy, his smile and eyes so bright, that the dragon offered him another magical wish - he would turn back time, so panthero could have the childhood he always wanted. he obliged with no hesitation.

ever since then, panthero has never been seen without a smile.
