Born into a small lair in the Starfall Isles, Pageant and his siblings were bred to look as photogenic as possible. Most were thrown out once deemed flawed, whether it be because their scales were too bright or their eyes were the wrong hue. The select few who met expectations, however, were secured a permanent spot in the ranks and treated like royalty.
They were sent to the clan's Hibernal Den to rest for the time being, which, his mother told him, was generally a good sign. He didn't see it as such, but kept quiet as his siblings directed. As the weeks dragged on, Pageant quickly grew restless. Being in the Hibernal Den meant isolation from the outside world, even if everything was handed to them. He realised he didn't want a life that was paved for him.
What began as an exploratory night outside of the Den quickly grew to an obsession, a nagging urge to be free in the world around him, to explore. When he met Mina during a particularly bloody fight with a Raptorik, he was enthralled. They quickly grew to be good friends, Mina willing (if a bit reluctantly) to teach him about surviving alone.
Pageant slipped out of the clan never to return. Even though he along with his siblings had been given silks and cloaks to match their colours the best, Pageant left all of it behind, taking only his beloved Petal Gecko, Rosemary (given to him by the clan leader). As a final statement, he scavenged a metal spring and pierced his wings to wear wing bangles, a sort of pledge of allegiance towards Mina and her growing following.
He's still cautious about the world, but excited to learn and tries not to let his old life define him.
