It swims through the vast blackness, seeking out the lights, shining with them. It spits and flares at stars, joins the moons and planets in their spinning waltzes, races comets through their orbits.

Impossibly vast and infinitesimally small, it fills the void between stars and slides through the spaces between atoms. It is shadow and nimbus, echo and mirror, the universe dancing with itself.

It finds a planet that contains a mirror of the abyss above, shining with its own tiny stars. The planet calling out to the universe, as it has done itself so many times before.

It dives downward and inward to answer the call.
