R'LYEH
R'lyeh was built by Cthulhu and his spawn to be their temporary abode. Cthulhu used to fly across the universe, destroying world after world, until he became stranded in Sorienth when the stars became misaligned. Biding his time until he could reach another world, he went into a hibernal sleep in the temple of his city.

R'lyeh is a massive city, preserved for aeons by Cthulhu's petrifying spell. Because it was built by a "Great Old One," the geometry is multi-dimensional and seems irregular to the current inhabitants of Sorienth. Its overwhelming size and unnatural build has been known to give even the hardiest viewers vertigo. An overbearing smell of rotting fish fills the air.

The city was located on an island somewhere to the east of the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. However, the island sank to the ocean floor, taking the city with it. Occasionally, an earthquake will cause the very peak of the city to surface, exposing the doors to the main temple.
