Biography

RmWsz4Q.png

- Miasma is a zombie. It is a well-kept secret, and something that she's internally conflicted about. She, like most plague-born dragons, always believed undeath to be the worst crime one could commit, a defiance of the natural order of the highest degree.

- Not that it was something that really came up in day-to-day life, until she woke up after being quite literally backstabbed.

- Her murder was committed by the owner of a rival company- she herself owned a rising caravan/trading/merchant company, and trusted the wrong individual to meet in the middle of nowhere to discuss buying out.

- She didn't know who had forced her to rise again, or why. She found notes and traces with a name- Madeline. She couldn't bear to return to her life as what she was without at least knowing why, so she attempted to track down Madeline, passing off her rotting body as some disease- though that led to her either being avoided, or approached by the worst sort of plague-fanatics, so she covered herself up better.

- As she's looking around for strange happenings, or signs of necromancy, every time she asks about it, some dragons mention a beast that has been terrorizing the area, but nobody gives her a consistent description or knows where it came from. Weird, but probably not her problem.

- She hears about some dragon raiding a somewhat old imperial tomb that belonged to some important guy- but not all the valuables were taken, just the preserved body and a few low-value jewels. She investigates but it doesn't really go anywhere- nobody saw the thief, and no jewels matching the descriptions were sold off to any nearby fences or markets she knows.

- She eventually meets a merchant who sold Madeline supplies often and that gives her a lead to her potential whereabouts, since apparently she was often accompanied by another dragon- but through him word gets back around that she's alive again, and while she's trying to find Madeline's nameless associate, her employees find her.

- They don't assume she actually died, they assume the guy couldn't finish the job and Miasma survived but was recovering alone to prove her strength. or something. Miasma rolls with it, and makes sure that everything is running smoothly within the company, but doesn't return- at least not right away. She continues her quest hunting down Madeline.

- She meets the other dragon who was apparently very breifly Madeline's apprentice. She finally gets a physical description of her, and the dragon says he was studying under her, despite her crimes (unrelated to the necromancy crimes), because she was a really good mage until she started getting obsessive and went totally off the rails after she kept failing to raise the dead, the one spell she had failed to perform.

- This leads her to Madeline's old lab, a large, black stone ruined tower. It is falling apart, and there's so many bones and nearly-rotted bodies around. It makes Miasma sick, but she's seen worse. She presses on.

- She finds and looks through madelines research, and eventually finds what she's looking for: something about her. its a short entry, only a few sentences.

"found a skydancer to test on today. semi-freshly dead, only stabbed a few times and barely rotting. attempted spell varient 17, nothing happened. imperfect, needs further improvement. leaving body, would contaminate results to use the same subject twice. always more bodies in this horrific place."

- so she was just a fluke of an amateur mad scientist. but at least she knows. she still really wants to meet madeline tho.

- she reads through the scattered notes and connects the dots between the horrific corpse-beast everyone's been half-mentioning, and the grave robbery, and etc.

- and then the beast, Madeline, shows up. Maybe what was left of her sensed the intrusion of her place, but.. there is hardly anything left of her, tangled up in the other corpses. Miasma wants to put her out of what she is sure must be misery, but she simply can't- she doesn't have the power to. She's forced to flee.

- It would be the last she would see of Madeline, though for years after she'd keep hearing about the false emperor.

- Miasma goes back to her company, and things.. kind of go back to normal for her, which is extremely weird. She's still really conflicted about her very existence, but then again, she's not even sure how long she's going to last. Her body, albeit slowly, continues to rot, and sometimes she feels the very magic within her slowly waning.

- She's already died once, she isn't really scared- she's just using however long she has to try and make sure she's doing right by the world. or whatever
