Biography
Sometimes the roots of a tree reach far from its trunk. Cactusrose descended from a family of Nature, and grew up in the lands of Light, but her endless hunger for knowledge took her far from her home to the wastes around the Wyrmwound. She hadn't meant to go to the home of her ancestors' enemy, but a wild storm had blown her far off track and threw her into the merciless ground. She was sure she was going to die there.
She found herself comfortable when she awoke, though she was sure that she should have died. A dull ache told her that it would be a while before she flew again, and bumping motion told her that she was on the move in the back of some sort of cart or wagon. "Ah, you are awake, good," The gentle features of a verdant skydancer looked over her, "You are quite lucky that one of our night hunters found you. It seems you will survive yet." Cactusrose lifted her head, taking a look around the wagon. It was decently large, capable of housing even a guardian or imperial, and every bit of free space was filled with supplies. The scent of salves and potions filled the little fae's senses, making her feel almost as if she were home. At first glance, she even missed the pearlcatcher that loomed from the corner. Where the skydancer was soft and warm, the pearlcatcher looked harsh and wicked. She looked far more like what Cactusrose had expected to see. Jagged teeth were displayed in some sort of smile beneath the gold multi-eyed mask, "Perhaps she'll even stay... Come now, child, have you never laid eyes upon a witch before?" The fae shook her head slightly and jerked her attention back to the gentle skydancer. "Oh, do not allow Vermeille to frighten you," She helped Cactusrose to sit up so that the injured fae could eat some broth made from what looked to be moths and butterflies. "She is actually quite kindhearted." The fae looked down at her bowl and the shimmering broth, "I thought... I heard that the dragons here... eat..." "That we're cannibals?" Vermeille cackled, "I wouldn't eat you. Too skinny." She cackled again and headed toward the woven drapes at the back of the wagon, "I'll leave Clover to look after you, then. Fatten you up." Clover shook her head with a chuckle and looked back to Cactusrose, "You will get used to her. So, what is your name?" "It's... I'm Cactusrose." |
