Fionavar remembered two things upon waking up in Dappervolk - his name and that he had a deep ache inside him that he didn't have words for. After picking up a sword he realized that he knew how to wield it frighteningly well.

Though Fionavar has forgotten, he used to be a paladin in a distant land that was most likely on a different plane than this one. He watched and guarded this land from corruption as a brave winged warrior. He was stern but kind and loved all living creatures.
The war, however, was lost and Fionavar lost everything he loved and protected. The corruption had set in on the lands and he, immune as he was a paladin, could do nothing but watch. And then he woke up in Dappervolk.

In Dappervolk, Fionavar tries to help everyone he comes across. Aiding people helps to alleviate the ache just slightly.
