Biography
Might be a veilspun but no danger here, he doesn't have mesmer. See the colorful bud in the grass? No draw. Stare at the bright little bug hop-cling-jumping around? Follow its movements, really pay attention? Nothing. Unless he's singing. If there's a tune trailing him, there'll be a little line of (real) bugs, or rodents, or maybe a bird or two, bopping along in his wake. His voice is tiny, only tiny things can hear it. (In normal circumstances, anyway. If the beetle picks up a bullhorn, or a big dragon wakes up to a tiny song in its ear... a really big dragon, and its fellows might not even notice the shiny bead tucked in its lobe.) Usually singing something because he likes to, but only under his breath because (previous interactions have proved) inflicting music on others when you haven't trained to actually carry a tune is Rude. (Also singing one or two lines from the same few tunes loud enough for others to hear over and over and over is, supposedly, murderworthy, but that's why he doesn't, okay.) Raffles cannot fathom the concept of pursuing an interest to anything less than excellence so set him up to take vocal lessons from Napoleon. Those are coming along nicely. He's actually put in a couple guest performances with the Noisemakers, and while their usual style isn't his genre, and there's always a risk of Carillon attempting to poison any public singer who has less than perfect pitch, the headiness is addictive. One call-and-response round song and the crowd is his. |
Aloo swapped out his mount in the pangolin races for a skycat. Whether this counts as an unfair advantage or not is arguable seeing as the cat-grub has yet to demonstrate the ability to actually use its wings. (And is easily distractible, which is a whole other argument about what constitutes cheating.) Painted the skycat with his colors (very skillfully) because that is What Racers Do, so his position is always easily visible anywhere on the racecourse. Signal laughed at him for taking the lazy option instead of breeding his favored colors onto his mount, but that's ridiculous when no one's figured out how skycats reproduce and Signal's probably actually painted himself to match his pangolin instead anyway. (Legion is a body artist, he knows how. And Signal knows him.) |

Some larger dragons who only notice the skykitten, given their relative sizes, have made a philosophical argument on which came first, the cat or the bug on the cat, and which is therefore colored after the other, but since larger dragons' voices are much too loud for intelligible speech Aloo has never heard them and their arguments don't count. |
Aloo jumped Remy to gush over a pillow he was carrying with such amazing colors! After Remy stopped blushing on the pillow's behalf and evidently misunderstood Aloo's explanation about Signature Race Colors he gave Aloo the pillow to help him win. It is a key piece of racing equipment, the skycat loves napping on it. |
