Theon was born to a diseased family residing in the most hellish locations of the Contagion. Her entire family, including her siblings, suffered from disease even before their hatchday. She was born right next to a rotten egg.

Throughout her rough childhood she witnessed many dragons, even some of her clutchmates, succumb to their diseases. It seemed that she, herself, though never caught even a case of the cold. Her ego bulged and some noted that she never really grew up. However, despite her pride, she used her gift to help some of the sickly dragons around her. She saved many, but even more fell through the cracks.

She grew up as the “town” medicine woman and this caught the attention of a wandering doctor. The mysterious doctor told Theon about their gift and it was practically love at first sight for the inexperienced medic. Echo made an offer, and Theon enthusiastically accepted her new apprenticeship. Now learning under a master, her talents have swelled and the two have healed many. And it doesn’t hurt that her master isn’t hard on the eyes!

Theon sometimes dreams about a life where she'd been able to grow up in a healthy family. In a family where disease was absent, or at the very least less lethal. Her whole life has been tied to finding the cure, that if she were to find it, she wouldn't know what else to do.

She wants to tell Echo about her feelings, but she's afraid that she'll ruin the friendship that they already have. Echo makes her so happy already; if they have to stay friends in order to stay together, Theon will keep her love dulled down. It's a shame Theon can't tell the difference in Echo between "happy-and-in-love" and "very happy" or else they would already be together.

This was it. Today was the day, and tonight was the night. She couldn’t stand it anymore, she had to tell her. She talked to Serenity about it, who was really good at giving out advice.

- Flashback -

“Life is short. Tell her how you feel, before you lose your chance.”
“How do I know she’ll love me back? If she doesn’t like me back, she’ll hate me forever.” Theon pouted, thinking about the possible outcomes of what could happen to their relationship.
“You won’t. Sometimes you just have to take risks - you won’t get another chance. Tell her you love her.”

Theon thought about what she said for a moment.
“Okay, I’ll do it. But how should I do it?”
“Just be creative.”

- Now -

Theon had placed a note on Echo's desk, the place she usually sits to study. (You can see what it read in Echo's POV, which probably isn't written yet.)
Theon felt butterflies in her stomach the entire day. Echo was currently out searching to trade with other dragons, Theon just couldn't wait for her to come back. She was reading a book next to the tree Theon asked Echo to meet her at, she couldn't wait to confess.
Although she was excited, deep down she was scared. She was still worrying about what would happen, but every time she thought of what might happen, she thought to what Serenity had said.

About 30 minutes later, she looked to the sky. It looked like it was getting dark out, and Theon hadn't seen Echo since this morning. She started to get anxious, and tired. She soon had drifted off to sleep, and about an hour later she woke up full of energy again, as always.
Theon looked around, and saw a candle light coming from Echo's den. She was back! Theon decided to get a closer look at what Echo was doing. Was she reading the note?

Theon then saw Echo get up from her desk, it looked like she was leaving to the place Theon had included in her note. She also saw the note opened on her desk, just before she dashed to the tree.
Then, Theon saw her. She jumped inside. Her heart was beating. Just the sight of Echo took her breath away. Theon knew she was in love.
"What did you want to tell me?" Echo said with a soft tone. She sounded like she was stressed, but hiding it in a way. Echo had joined Theon and sat down.
Theon was unusually quiet - she was so starstruck she couldn't even speak.
"I..." Echo raised a brow at her, and giggled. "It's okay, you can tell me."
"Echo, I..." Theon sighed. She didn't know if she could say it anymore.

Echo furrowed her brows. "Take your time, it's okay." Echo was clearly concerned, she had revealed it in her tone.
Theon thought for a moment. She thought about what Serenity had said. She took another moment, and decided what she would say in her mind. She hadn't thought about at least practicing a speech.
"Echo, I wanted to tell you something very important." Echo relaxed her face, with caring eyes. "Theon, you can tell me anything." Echo's paw made it's way over to hers.
Theon smiled softly at the gesture. (WHY IS THIS SCENE TAKING SO LONG)
"These past 2 years, i've felt something for you. And I wanted to tell you." Echo smiled back, and waited patiently for her to finish her speech.
"Echo, I'm in love with you." Echo's smile became greater. "You mean, you love-love me?"

"Yes. I fell in love with you the first time I saw you. Your the best thing that's ever happened to me, Echo." She felt tears poke at her eyes, and Echo pulled her into a warm, loving embrace. "I feel the same way."

"I love you too, Theon."

aaand that's it for this story! i might write more in the future, who knows :P sorry it was so short lmao i might make it more detailed and longer if requested, or i might just do it myself. just not in the bio.
