![]() ![]() ![]() s c o u t Daukatchka, along with his loyal mate Warakchta, serves in the Clan Guard as as scout. He has no permanent nest in the clan, as he and his mate are always on the move. Daukatchka differs from his mate in that he is an adept flyer - Warakchta's damaged wings render her almost completely unable to fly, only glide. The two have perfected a combo scouting technique, where Dau flies above and signals Warak, who strikes from the ground, and vice versa. The two are very adept at their jobs, and have successfully kept away smaller enemies (and a few large ones) as well as brought back information about more formidable forces. ![]() o r i g i n s Dau's egg was stolen from his home clan by a Harpy coven. They raised him from a hatchling with the intention to use him against neighboring dragon clans. While Dau was fiercely loyal to the Harpy coven at first, he began to develop a closer relationship with Warak, who had been captured as a hatchling instead of an egg. Warak was much more resistant to the Harpy's brainwashing techniques, resulting in constant physical abuse. Dau's unhappiness with the treatment of Warak was the planting of the first seed of rebellion against the Harpies. Dau and Warak eventually mated while allied with the coven and produced their first nest. The eggs grew larger and warmer, but right on the eve of their hatching the eggs disappeared. Warak was furious and insisted that the Harpies had stolen the eggs, although Dau harbored doubts. The two combed the rocks and hills of the area, searching for their lost children. Warak, who had been serving as a tracker for the Harpies, eventually found traces of the burglars and the eggs were discovered in a small cave. Sure enough, it was Harpies from the clan that had taken the eggs - now hatched - from the bereaved parents. Warak, furious with the deception, threatened the Harpies. In response, the Harpies killed the hatchlings and attempted to entice Dau to aid in subduing the enraged Warak. Instead, Dau's anger exploded and him and Warak attacked and murdered all the Harpies, then traveled back to the coven to finish the job. Eventually, after a couple of days of mourning for their lost children, Warak and Dau left the area and roamed the countryside. They wandered into the Cloud Steppes Clan, where Jupiter employed them as scouts. ![]() p e r s o n a l i t y and a p p e a r a n c e Daukatchka is mostly calm and collected, with occasional intense outbursts of emotion. He speaks rarely, considering small talk wasteful. He dislikes the company of other dragons; thankfully, his position as a scout keeps him away from the main body of the clan most of the time. Despite his hatred of harpies, his appearance still reflects his time spent with them, mainly through his use of a birdskull mask. Many clan members have asked where he obtained the mask, as it sports an impressive rack of antlers, but Dau has never revealed the location. Other than his mask, Dau also sports a chest guard for some protection during scouting missions, cloth wraps, and an enchanted pendant that makes it harder for enemies to notice him during flights. ![]() m a t e Dau and Warak are inseparable, as Warak was the first dragon Dau ever met. To this day, she is still the only creature that Dau completely trusts - especially after the betrayal by his foster parents. The pair are fiercely protective of their clutches, to the point where they won't even allow Kyrillos to guard their clutches as he does for the rest of the clan. Their children have mostly decided to leave the clan once grown, but the pair still hope for one to eventually decide to stay. ![]() p a r t n e r ![]() Dau's partner is a Red-Winged Owlcat he has affectionately named The Swift. He had met the creature after the destruction of his foster family; it had come to scavenge on the corpses of the dead harpies. He admired its tenacity and bravery in approaching him and Warak and eventually befriended it. Now, it helps him on his scavenging missions, providing an extra eye in the sky.
