Biography

old lore-please ignore
~ Hufflepuff (Eel)/Gryffindor (Elle) ~

Eel doesn't remember much of his early life. Every time he thinks back to his childhood he can hear a howling storm, two dragons yelling (most likely his parents) and then darkness, and a still silence that doesn't sit well with him. Then he feels his body being sucked away and the pressure above him intense, pushing him towards the center...of something. After that all he can remember is falling, and striking the ground near the Starfall Isles.

He traveled aimlessly for a good portion of his life, alone. He felt like he was missing something. Some part of him claimed it was his soul, but he wasn't a pearlcatcher, and didn't carry a pearl...at least as far as he knew. He knew his element was light, which meant he must have come from there, but he worried that he wouldn't be able to fit in after his memory loss.

On his travels through the Sea of a Thousand Currents, back when he still didn't have a name. He met an eel who was swimming through the ocean. They became good friends and stayed together, accompanying each other on adventures. The eel wished to find the Tidelord, who had been missing for ages, and Eel, able to relate to the feeling of being lost, joined his little friend. On one of these adventures, they met a fae named Elle. Her eyes were cyan and glowed in the darkness, revealing the shadows of intricate circuits within. If he looked closely enough, he could see the flashes of lightning within the depths of her eyes. She seemed to know what she was doing, so he decided to stick by her side along with his eel friend.

She was a fae too, but said she was once an Imperial and she spoke of a magical storm that destroyed their small clan in the Shifting Expanse. Elle claimed that the Lightweaver had created the storm to mock the Stormcatcher, and prove her power over the Sundial Ruins. Eel didn't know what to say to this, and wondered what was the source of this mysterious storm.

The eel grew restless one day, wishing to find the Tidelord, knowing that it couldn't search through the ocean with its fae friends. They parted ways eventually, and the eel disappeared into the depths of the ocean, never to be seen again.

Months later they heard of a hurricane, that also seemed to be fueled by magic originating from the Sundial Ruins. Eel was heartbroken when he learned that he lost his friend in that storm. He named himself Eel, after his friend to pay homage to the only creature who had ever understood him.

Both Eel and Elle decided that they needed to investigate the source of these flash storms, to keep other innocents out of harms way. They travelled through many clans, searching for anyone who seemed to have powers to create storms, but they found no one. Until they approached a large clan nestled in the depths of the Hewn City.

As soon as they neared it, Eel could feel the amount of magic radiating in the air. He didn't know if it was because he was a fae or the fact that he must have been exposed to a lot of radiation as a child, but he could feel the magical radiation as if it was a palpable thing. They slipped their way into the ranks of the clan, knowing that they were close to solving the mystery. The mysterious stormcaller was here, hidden away as an average dragon.

The longer Eel spent with his new clan, the more he began to remember, until he could remember his parents faces, clearly. Both were pearlcatchers, which probably explained why he felt like his soul was lost. Eel reasoned that he must have lost his pearl as a hatchling before the radiation of the Starfall Isles turned him into a fae. He still couldn't understand how he ended up in the Arcane Flight's territory in the first place, but he had many theories, and he was sure he was going to find the answers with the mystery of the flash storms.

One day he was outside, touring the Beacon of the Radiant Eye, where the Lightweaver herself was said to reside, and he bumped into a golden pearlcatcher. The pearlcatcher was much bigger than him and Eel was easily intimidated. He let out a squeak and moved out of the pearlcatcher's way. The other dragon gave him an odd look, then turned away, continuing to mutter to himself. Then the dragon stilled and approached Eel again, this time peering at him. Eel noticed that he wore a golden monocle that obscured his left eye, and Eel could only wonder why the he wore one, since most dragons chose to wear monocles at formal events or as a fashion statement.

The pearlcatcher's name was Aurum, as Eel soon learned. Aurum lost his eyesight in a magical storm...the same kind of magical storm that Elle had spoken of. The same storm that had destroyed lairs and thrown the elemental balance off of its axis. Eel could feel the magical radiation coming off of Aurum and he knew, he knew, that Aurum was the one responsible for the magical disasters. That Aurum was the one responsible for his lost memories.

Eel rushed back to tell Elle what he'd learned and both fae decided to confront the pearlcatcher. They couldn't fight, but they had nearly infinite magical reserves. For Elle, her magical powers had been mulitplied by the storm that had destroyed her lair. For Eel, his powers seemed to come from radiation, and in the Starfall Isles, he was one of the strongest creatures due to the immense amount of radiation. Since the Sundial Ruins was so far from the Starfall Isles, Eel had to rely on his own body, which contained twice the amount of radiation that a normal arcane dragon should.

Aurum was powerful and influential enough in the clan that Eel and Elle couldn't accuse him outright, so they devised a plan where they would ambush him. The plan was simple enough: ambush him in the cover of the night and find out his involvement with creating the sudden storms- wip

Their magic is taken away, bit by bit, until they have paid for their supposed crimes against the Court.

These are my fodder pairs! They don't have any "children." Their offspring lists symbolize their magic being taken away.
